- Finding
- NHHC DANFS identifies Alabaster (PYc-21) as the former yacht Ronaele, built in 1932 at Camden, New Jersey, by Mathis Yacht Building Co.; acquired by the Navy 3 January 1942, renamed and designated PYc-21 on 13 January 1942, converted by Philadelphia Navy Yard, and commissioned 31 January 1942. It records inshore patrol duty in 1942–43, conversion at Philadelphia Navy Yard in autumn 1943 for antisubmarine-warfare training, subsequent training and repair service in the Pacific, arrival at San Pedro, California, on 25 October 1945, decommissioning on 17 December 1945, striking on 21 January 1946, and sale on 9 April 1947. - Navy crew; DANFS listed complement 48
- Limitations
- DANFS is a service history, not a material survey; it does not identify asbestos-containing materials or establish asbestos presence or absence. The live NHHC page returned HTTP 404; an archived 2015-04-09 copy of the official entry was retrieved and is cited as archived. Post-service private ownership and final fate are not included here because authoritative confirmation was not located.

[3]Research finding from review of archived NHHC DANFS ‘Alabaster (PYc-21)’ and official-source searches for this hull; archived capture dated 2015-04-09 [other_primary]
- Locator
- NHHC DANFS entry; search ledger entries sl-uss-alabaster-pyc21-01 through -04
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos documentation was located in the accessible official sources reviewed for this record. DANFS does not discuss asbestos. This is a bounded research finding, not evidence that asbestos was absent from the vessel.

- Limitations
- The live NHHC page returned HTTP 404; the archived capture was retrieved. Firecrawl MCP was quota-exhausted. Two CourtListener helper invocations (exact-name opinion and docket) were stopped by the fleet pacing limiter before HTTP requests, and the hull-number searches were not sent. No comprehensive shipboard materials inventory or abatement file was located. The finding must not be treated as proof of absence or as a completed litigation search.
