- DANFS specifications block; construction paragraph; Surigao Strait/repair paragraph; final service paragraph
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- DANFS identifies this hull as Fletcher-class destroyer Albert W. Grant (DD-649): laid down 30 December 1942 at Charleston, South Carolina, by Charleston Navy Yard; launched 29 May 1943; commissioned 24 November 1943; placed out of commission in reserve at San Diego 16 July 1946; struck 14 April 1971; and sold for scrapping. DANFS gives a complement of 329 and seven World War II battle stars. It records minor alterations at Charleston in January 1944 and major repair work at Mare Island after damage in the Battle of Surigao Strait.

- Charleston Navy Yard construction trades; wartime crew; Mare Island repair trades
- Limitations
- This is a ship-history record, not a materials survey. It does not identify asbestos-containing materials, products, quantities, locations, worker exposure, abatement, causation, or legal eligibility. It says the ship was sold for scrapping but does not identify a scrap purchaser, yard, or date.

[2]DANFS, Albert W. Grant (DD-649), Naval History and Heritage Command [nhhc_danfs]
- Locator
- DANFS specifications block ('cl. Fletcher') and construction paragraph
- Finding type
- asbestos_application
- Finding
- DANFS classifies Albert W. Grant as a Fletcher-class destroyer built during World War II. That construction-era and class identification is retained only to prioritize further materials research; no class- or era-based proposition is treated as proof that asbestos-containing material was installed aboard DD-649.

- Fletcher-class destroyer construction and service era
- Limitations
- This is class/era context only. DANFS does not use the term asbestos or identify any insulation, lagging, gasket, packing, coating, or other material aboard this hull. It cannot support a ship-specific asbestos finding, exposure conclusion, product identification, quantity, or legal eligibility.

[3]NHHC artifact record, USS Albert W. Grant (DD-649) Battle of Leyte Gulf Memorial Plaque, accession NHHC 1972-287-A [other_primary]
- Locator
- NHHC artifact description and historical-context paragraphs
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- NHHC's artifact record describes a brass memorial plaque for the officers and sailors lost aboard DD-649 at Surigao Strait on 25 October 1944 and identifies 38 engraved names. The artifact record also describes the hull as a Fletcher-class destroyer laid down 30 December 1942 and states that the ship sustained 22 hits at Surigao Strait.

- Crew aboard DD-649 at the Battle of Surigao Strait
- Limitations
- The artifact record documents commemoration and battle history, not vessel materials. Its wounded figure differs from the DANFS figure; no casualty total beyond the plaque's 38 names is used as an asbestos finding. It does not establish asbestos presence, exposure, product identity, abatement, causation, or legal eligibility.

[4]CourtListener authenticated API v4 sweep through /Users/charlesfletcher/devin-prompts/cl-auth-search.py [court_record]
- Locator
- Helper output: 'COURTLISTENER PACING: the fleet-wide request budget is momentarily spent ... Do NOT retry in a loop'
- Finding type
- litigation_documented
- Finding
- No CourtListener result classification was completed. Required exact-name and hull-number docket/opinion searches were submitted through the authenticated fleet helper, but the helper returned the fleet-wide pacing stand-down before either request returned results.
