[1]Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships, Allamakee (YTB-410), reproduced by HistoryCentral [nhhc_danfs]
- Locator
- Allamakee history, final two sentences
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- The reproduced DANFS entry says the 1959 Naval Vessel Register Ship's Data Book listed Allamakee as struck in June 1959 and used a broad disposal category; it explicitly says no specific record of her ultimate fate was found.

- Limitations
- The underlying 1959 NVR volume was not independently examined; the generic disposal category does not identify whether the tug was abandoned, burned, scuttled, or sunk, or establish a location or date of physical disposal. No asbestos conclusion follows.

- Finding
- GAO's 1979 report lists asbestos thermal insulation for a group of large harbor tugs YTB-817 through YTB-831, constructed in 1972–1974. The report defines thermal insulation as insulation for machinery, equipment, and piping.

- Limitations
- The named tugs are later YTB hulls, not Allamakee and not her Sassaba class. This establishes that asbestos thermal insulation was used on some Navy harbor tugs; it cannot establish material, location, quantity, condition, exposure, or causation on YTB-410. GAO's separate YTB insulation weight estimate must not be assigned to this ship.

- Locator
- search_ledger sl-uss-allamakee-yt410-01 through -05
- Finding type

- Limitations
- A negative search result is bounded by the public sources searched, including an inaccessible NHHC page and unexamined NARA microfilm. It does not prove absence of asbestos, absence of exposure, or the outcome of any claim.
