- pp. 281-284, 'Auxiliaries - Coastal Transports (Small) (APc)' tables, APc-29 rows (scan PDF pp. 299-302)
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- The Navy's own 1945 publication lists this hull as 'APc29 (ex-AMc183)' - the official record that the hull was laid down under the planned coastal-minesweeper designation AMc-183 and completed as small coastal transport APc-29. Construction table: built by Fulton S.Y., Antioch, Calif.; keel 2 Jul 1942; launched 27 Aug 1942; commissioned 6 Jan 1943. Machinery row: Enterprise DMG-6 diesel, 400 shaft horsepower, no reduction gear.

- Shipbuilders, Fulton Shipyard, Antioch CA (1942)
- Limitations
- Publication effective Apr 1945 reflects in-service configuration; does not cover decommissioning or disposal. Documents identity, builder, dates, and machinery type - contains no insulation or materials statement beyond machinery, and cannot support any ship-specific asbestos finding.

- Special List #44, ship-number entry 'APC-29 1/6/1943 6/30/1945'
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- NARA indexes deck logs for APC-29 covering 1/6/1943 through 6/30/1945 - independently corroborating the 6 Jan 1943 commissioning date and continuous in-service status through mid-1945.

- Limitations
- Index entry only - the deck logs themselves were not retrieved and their contents (movements, personnel, maintenance entries) are unexamined. The 6/30/1945 end date reflects the index's logbook coverage scope, not necessarily the end of the log series.

[4]NAVSHIPS 250-012, Ships' Data, U.S. Naval Vessels, 1945, Vol. III, pp. 281-282 (APc-1 class characteristics); APc-1 class procurement notes at shipscribe.com/usnaux/APC/APC01.html [other_primary]
- Locator
- pp. 281-282 class characteristics table ('Wood hulls' footnote); class notes paragraph
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- The official class record bounds the design: APc-1-class small coastal transports had wood hulls, 103'3" overall, one screw, diesel propulsion, designed 10 knots ('No trial runs nor Model Basin tests were made'), class armament four single 20mm AA mounts, 145 bbls diesel oil, two diesel-driven 30kW 120V DC generators. The type originated when the CNO redirected the AMc 150-199 coastal-minesweeper batch to completion as 'raider transports, AP' on 13 Apr 1942 - the design path by which this hull became APc-29 instead of AMc-183.

- 1942 (design and redirection)
- Limitations
- Class/design record, not a hull materials record. A wooden-hulled diesel craft carries a materially smaller insulation footprint than steam-driven steel combatants, but the document is silent on insulation and materials - it supports design context only and can never by itself support a ship-specific asbestos finding.

- Finding type

- Finding
- Naval historian David D. Bruhn's compilation credits USS APc-29 with a battle star for the Consolidation of the Southern Solomons campaign, award period 11 May 1943, listing commanding officer 'Lt. (jg) Eugene H. George, USNR' - consistent with NavSource's campaign entry for the ship.

- Finding
- Decommissioned April 1946; stricken from the Naval Register 8 May 1946; delivered by Maritime Commission sale 12 Feb 1947 to A. S. Thompson - entered merchant service as fishing vessel NUISANCE IV (U.S. official no. 252126 is associated with the hull in merchant tables). Secondary compilations trace later fishing-boat owners: S. S. Thompson, Hoonah, AK (1960); John Orlando, Mukilteo, WA (1995); Kent Hawkins (2000, renamed MARGARET ANN); out of U.S. documentation 2001, fate unknown.

- Limitations
- Official-derived rows (strike 8 May 1946, MC delivery 12 Feb 1947) are consistent across sources, but decommission date conflicts (1 vs 23 Apr 1946) and buyer location conflicts (Seattle, Wash. vs Juneau, AK) are unresolved - flagged in gaps. The entire post-Navy ownership chain rests on secondary compilations, unverified against the USCG documentation file.

[7]Batch-1533 search ledger (this record): CourtListener API v4 opinion and docket searches for 'APc-29'/'APC-29' and 'AMc-183'/'AMC-183'; NARA indexes; NHHC/DANFS; MARAD/PMARS [other_primary]
- Locator

- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No qualifying ship-specific asbestos record located: no survey, abatement contract, hazmat disclosure, or docketed case naming APc-29, AMc-183, NUISANCE IV, or MARGARET ANN was found in the public sources searched (see search_ledger). CourtListener returned zero qualifying asbestos litigation - all hits were name collisions (a law-firm 'APC' suffix, APC Workforce Solutions, an ASTM-standard fragment in ASTM v. Public.Resource.Org).

- Limitations
- Absence of a located public record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard; the hull left federal control in 1947 and passed through private fishing ownership, so no survey or disclosure context ever arose. Does not establish or defeat any claim of exposure or legal eligibility.
