- historical_record

- Liberty service narrative, 26 May 1965, 3 January 1966, and 1 September 1966 entries
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- NHHC's Liberty (AGTR-5) history names Ankachak and Apohola as the tugs that moved Liberty at Norfolk Naval Shipyard on 26 May 1965. It also names Ankachak among tugs assisting Liberty on 3 January and 1 September 1966.

- Limitations
- Documents named tug operations, not the tug's material composition. The 1 September 1966 mention falls after NAVSEA's 1 July 1966 removal date and therefore adds a chronology conflict requiring original transfer/operations records; it is not proof that the removal date is wrong.

[4]Hellenic Navy, HS Aias A-412 official fleet profile [other_primary]
- Locator
- Technical Characteristics and History, items 1-2
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- The Hellenic Navy identifies its tug Aias I (A-412) as former Ankachak (YTB-501), says it received the vessel in July 1972, and says it was renamed Aias I in March 2022. The profile lists it in commission at Souda Naval Base, with two Enterprise DMG-26 diesel engines and a present-day crew of 17.

- Limitations
- The page establishes what the current operator reports, but no page date or refit history is supplied. The 17-person crew is a Greek-service figure, not verified U.S. Navy complement and is excluded from the record summary. The engine listing cannot establish 1945 machinery. No asbestos content is disclosed.

- NAVSEA p. 106, row 'YTN 0767 ANKACHAK'; NHHC Ankachak final paragraph; Liberty III 1 September 1966 entry; Hellenic Navy History item 2
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- Official transfer and disposition dates are not reconciled: NHHC's Ankachak history says transfer to Greece under lease on 1 July 1966 and striking and sale in December 1977; NAVSEA's 2011 ship-history table gives a 1 July 1966 removal date and disposition 'FMS' but misprints the hull prefix as YTN; the Hellenic Navy dates receipt to July 1972. NHHC's Liberty history also names Ankachak in a 1 September 1966 Norfolk operation.

- Limitations
- Sources may be describing different events (inventory removal, lease, physical receipt, sale), but the documents reviewed do not explain the six-year gap or the post-removal operation. Do not assert a definitive physical-transfer or final U.S. operating date. NAVSEA's YTN prefix is treated as a table error, not a redesignation.
