- Secondary compilation, not an official record - NavSource aggregates BuShips-derived data and contributed material; no dedicated DANFS entry exists for this hull ('There is no DANFS history available for ARD-6 at NavSource'). Commissioning date conflicts by one day with NavalCoverMuseum (28 vs 29 April - see gaps). Chronology between Dutch Harbor station end (Sep 1945) and Balboa tow (Dec 1946), and custody 1947-1961, is undocumented. No asbestos information; supports no asbestos claim.

- Finding
- Official Navy fleet-logistics history documents ARD-6's forward deployment: the tugs Cree and James Griffith brought ARD-6 from the United States to Dutch Harbor, arriving 15 June 1943 (the tugs then took the damaged transport Arthur Middleton in tow on their return trip); 'The floating drydock YFD-22 was in operation at Dutch Harbor, and in June 1943 drydock ARD-6 was added'; in July 1943 the Commandant, Thirteenth Naval District recommended to the Vice Chief of Naval Operations that YFD-22 be transferred from Kodiak to Adak 'and that ARD-6, which had reached Dutch Harbor 15 June, remain there for the time being'; the chapter's photo plates include 'Submarine undocking from ARD-6, Dutch Harbor.'

- Abner Read (DD-526) service-history narrative, paragraphs covering 6-16 September 1943 at Dutch Harbor
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- DANFS documents ARD-6 in operational commissioned service performing its repair mission on a battle-damaged destroyer: Abner Read (DD-526), which lost her stern to a mine off Kiska 18 August 1943, reached Dutch Harbor 6 September 1943; that afternoon 'ST-164... took the destroyer to the floating drydock ARD-6, which passed a bow line to the warship soon thereafter. Pumping began at 1628, and soon thereafter, at 1641, Abner Read came to rest on the keel blocks.' On 7 September, while she lay on keel blocks in ARD-6, her engineer officer inspected all outboard valves and fittings as required by Navy Regulations and the first lieutenant inspected the underwater body. 'Abner Read remained drydocked in ARD-6 until 14 September 1943, when the latter began the flooding process at 0800'; the destroyer was waterborne 0843 and cleared the sill by 0859.

- Finding
- Disposition corroboration: ShipbuildingHistory's drydock table records 'ARD 6 - Pacific Bridge - Alameda CA - 4,200 - 483 - Apr-43 - To Pakistan 1961 as Peshawar, active'; NavalCoverMuseum records commissioned 29 April 1943, decommissioned 1 July 1946, struck 24 January 1947, transferred to Pakistan 30 June 1961 (one-day commission-date discrepancy vs NavSource's 28 April - see gaps). MARAD's Vessel History Database returns no record for ARD-6 (query 'ARD' returns ARD-26, ARD-33, and Ardmore only) - consistent with a government-to-government Security Assistance transfer rather than Maritime Administration custody.

[6]Consolidated era/design inference - NavSource BuShips-derived specification and ARD type description (ev-01) + official-history documentation of the dock's repair mission at Dutch Harbor (ev-02, ev-03) [other_primary]
- Locator
- ev-01 specification table and timeline; ev-02/ev-03 documented dockings
- Finding type
- asbestos_application
- Finding
- Era/design inference: this hull is a non-self-propelled 1943 Pacific Bridge-built auxiliary repair dock - a self-sustaining floating industrial facility crewed by ~131, with berthing and messing spaces, ballast-pump and compressed-air machinery, ship's-service power, deck cranes and winches, and repair workshops, built at the peak of WWII asbestos consumption in American shipbuilding. Era-typical asbestos applications aboard such a service craft would have included pipe and machinery insulation and gaskets, pump and valve packing, electrical insulation, fire-resistant bulkhead and panel materials, brake linings on cranes and winches, and heat-protection materials in welding and repair shops. Its repair mission added a second pathway: dock personnel worked aboard damaged warships of the period (documented dockings: Fletcher-class destroyer Abner Read, September 1943; submarine S-47, January 1944; plus the official history's captioned photo of a submarine undocking from ARD-6 at Dutch Harbor), whose era insulation materials repair parties disturbed.

- Limitations
- Design/era inference, not a hull record - no source names asbestos aboard this specific dock or aboard the vessels it serviced. Does not establish installation, quantity, location, condition, individual exposure, or causation. Auxiliary machinery and shop outfit details for this hull are undocumented (NavSource specification table is silent on auxiliaries).

- CourtListener indexes text, not hull identity - the 'ARD-6' token collides with the surname Ard, the PA 'ARD' diversion program, court-path strings, and exhibit labels; every hit was inspected to case-name level and none references the vessel.
