- NavSource corroborates hull identity and disposition: Wickes (Tattnall) class, Parsons-design turbines 26,000 SHP two shafts, and an October 1945 photograph placing the decommissioned hull at NAS Cape May, N.J., among other flush-deckers awaiting disposal. The 'Tattnall' tag resolves the original DANFS 'cl. Tattnall' designation: Tattnall (DD-125) led the New York Shipbuilding-built group of the Wickes design, slightly heavier and with poorer cruising radius than the Bath originals.

- GAO reports Navy-wide that thermal insulation was the Navy's major use of asbestos aboard ships fleet-wide, and describes the Navy's 1975 policy (remove/replace only damaged or repair-necessitated insulation) and its 1979 revision (selective replacement in high-maintenance areas). - Limitations
- gao.gov returns HTTP 403 to automated fetch; the finding is drawn from the GAO product-page abstract, not the full PDF text (standing defect noted in BATCH-01-REPORT.md). The report's fieldwork covers Long Beach and Norfolk Naval Shipyards in the 1970s - decades after this hull was scrapped (1947) - and it does not name USS Badger or the Wickes class. - Finding
- No qualifying asbestos litigation naming this hull was located in CourtListener's indexes. All hits are name collisions on other hulls: (1) The Newfoundland prize litigation (89 F. 510, D.S.C. 1898; 176 U.S. 97, 1900) names the earlier USS Badger, a Spanish-American War-era vessel, not this hull, and is not asbestos litigation; (2) the two Clayton asbestos personal-injury dockets (W.D. Wash. 2018) name 'USS Badger' but the decedent's service aboard ran February 1972-March 1973 per the district court's recitals - the only USS Badger in commission then was destroyer escort/frigate DE-1071 (later FF-1071), a different hull scrapped long after DD-126 (which was sold in 1945 and scrapped in 1947). The Clayton matters are therefore qualifying asbestos litigation for the name 'USS Badger' but non-qualifying as to this hull.

- Limitations
- CourtListener coverage limits: public opinion and RECAP indexes do not comprehensively cover pre-electronic-filing state court records or pre-PACER federal filings; this hull's 1919-1945 service and 1947 scrapping predate the digitized-litigation era, and it left no museum or reserve-fleet afterlife to generate modern claims. Absence of a hit does not prove no litigation naming this hull exists anywhere. The "DD-126" RECAP docket query was not completed - the fleet-wide pacing budget withheld a request token on repeated attempts; see search_ledger and gaps. Clayton hull attribution rests on the W.D. Wash. court's recited service dates (February 1972-March 1973, interior-communications fireman), which exclude DD-126.
