- Finding
- NHHC DANFS identifies this hull as Beverly W. Reid (DE-722), laid down 5 January 1944 at Neville Island, Pennsylvania, by Dravo Corporation; launched 4 March 1944; reclassified APD-119 on 17 July 1944; moved to Orange, Texas, completed by Consolidated Steel Corporation; and commissioned 25 June 1945. It records reserve status from 1 September 1946, decommissioning 5 May 1947, recommissioning at Norfolk Shipbuilding & Drydock on 18 March 1967, redesignation LPR-119 on 14 August 1968, final decommissioning at Orange on 14 November 1969, striking on 15 September 1974, and August 1975 sale for scrapping. The specifications block gives Crosley class, 1,650 tons trial displacement, 306-foot length, 37-foot beam, 23.6-knot trial speed, and complement 204.

- Ship's company (DANFS complement 204); construction and repair trades
- Limitations
- DANFS establishes hull identity, chronology, and stated characteristics, not asbestos content, product installation, individual exposure, or legal eligibility. The APD specifications block describes the completed transport rather than the uncompleted DE-722 configuration.

- Finding
- World War II Navy-use context: a Federal Register notice identifies Navy Specification 17-L-29 for electrical asbestos-fibre insulation and permits amosite woven felt blankets and mattresses, fittings, fireproof insulating board, molded pipe covering and blocks, and flexible pipe insulation for use or installation on ships. This is evidence of Navy ship-insulation specifications during the hull's construction era, not evidence that a listed material was installed aboard Beverly W. Reid.

- Navy ship construction and repair context during World War II
- Limitations
- A wartime Navy specification and allocation record, not a bill of materials, drawing, survey, or work record for this hull, class, builder, or completion yard. It cannot establish that any asbestos product was ordered, installed, retained, disturbed, or encountered aboard Beverly W. Reid.

- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- NARA's Ship Plan Index lists BEVERLY W REID, APD-119, in Record Group 19 as 'Hull series of Ship Engineering Drawings,' National Archives Identifier 153713985. This identifies a potentially relevant official engineering-record holding for later hull-level review.

- Limitations
- The index proves a catalogued holding, not the contents or availability of any individual drawing. The drawing set was not retrieved or reviewed, and no asbestos, material, machinery, or exposure conclusion follows from the index entry.

- search_ledger rows sl-uss-beverly-w-reid-de722-01 through sl-uss-beverly-w-reid-de722-04
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos record was located in the official public sources reviewed: DANFS contains no asbestos or product identification, and the NARA Ship Plan Index supplies only an unreviewed engineering-drawing lead. No public hull ACM survey, abatement record, disposal-hazard record, or product list was located in this research pass.

- Limitations
- A negative public-record search is not proof that asbestos was absent aboard the hull and does not establish or defeat exposure, causation, or legal eligibility. The CourtListener portion of the required litigation sweep is separately incomplete because shared authenticated API pacing prevented recovery of results in this headless session.
