- Service paragraph; corroborating MARAD Detail/554: General Type and Specific Type
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- Blue Jacket was a C2-S-B1 refrigerator ship, T-AF-51, acquired by the Navy from the Army on 1 March 1950 and assigned to MSTS, Atlantic Area. Its USNS stores-ship identity replaces the supplied USS/destroyer framing. It carried mainly refrigerated stores between the United States and Europe until the late 1960s; MSTS service ended 19 August 1970.

- Limitations
- DANFS text was available in the search engine indexed official-page extract; direct retrieval returned HTTP 404 and web open failed. MARAD was fetched directly and corroborates the stores-ship type. This is an identity/service correction, not an asbestos finding or a commissioned-warship service claim.

[4]GAO HRD-80-2, Navy Efforts To Protect Workers From Asbestos Exposure, 18 October 1979 [gao]
- Locator
- Product-page Highlights (not full report)
- Finding type
- asbestos_application
- Finding
- GAO documented the Navy program for replacing asbestos insulation: in 1975 replacement was limited to damaged insulation or material removed for necessary repairs; in 1979 the policy expanded to selected high-maintenance areas.

- Limitations
- Navy program background only; the review concerned Long Beach and Norfolk shipyards and postdates Blue Jacket's MSTS retirement and sale. It does not identify this hull, prove applicability to its MSTS plant, or establish any product, quantity, exposure, causation, or yard visit. Tier 2 is retained only as a broad class/era research classification; no hull-specific asbestos inference follows.

- Locator
- search_ledger sl-01 through sl-09; research/batch-9515/RESEARCH.md; cl-opinions.json and cl-dockets.log
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No qualifying ship-specific asbestos documentation was located in the official history/database material and bounded searches recorded in search_ledger. The CourtListener sweep remains incomplete after a fleet pacing block; seven opinion-search hits supplied no qualifying asbestos evidence at the inspected level. Asbestos documentation aboard this hull remains unknown.

- Limitations
- This is a bounded search outcome, not proof of absence. Only one complete opinion was retrieved; other opinion hits were screened from returned metadata/snippets and the retrieved opinion's cross-references. The docket search was blocked; unindexed, sealed, unavailable, and unsearched records remain outside coverage.
