    Finding
Era inference: Baltimore-class construction (4 Babcock & Wilcox boilers, 4 GE geared steam turbines, ~120,000 shp) in 1941-43 at Bethlehem/Fore River falls squarely in the documented Navy asbestos-insulation era; the 1960 BuShips Technical Manual insulation chapter enumerates the era-standard suite - 85%-magnesia and amosite pipe covering, asbestos felt, chrysotile cloth/tape lagging, asbestos millboard, finishing cement, molded block. Documented disturbance periods for this hull: 1945 Boston Navy Yard battle-damage reconstruction (after fireroom and both engine rooms flooded/rebuilt), 1952-56 New York Shipbuilding CAG-2 conversion (after turret removed, superstructure modified), 1958 Norfolk Naval Shipyard overhaul, and pre-1970 Terrier removal.

    Limitations
Class/era specification and yard-period inference only - no ship-specific asbestos record exists for this hull (ev-04); this row must not be read as establishing that asbestos products were or remain aboard. Does not quantify material; conversion/removed-material scope is undocumented.

    Finding
No qualifying ship-specific asbestos record located: CourtListener exact-name queries ('U.S.S. Canberra', 'USS Canberra', 'the Canberra' + asbestos/Navy) and hull/designation queries (CA-70, CAG-2) returned no qualifying asbestos litigation naming this hull; no hull ACM survey, abatement contract, scrapping hazmat disclosure, NVR entry (hull sold 1980, before live-register coverage), or museum record with asbestos data was found in the public sources searched (see search_ledger).

    Limitations
Absence of a located public record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard - it establishes only that no qualifying ship-specific documentation was found in the searched repositories. Does not establish or defeat any claim of exposure or legal eligibility.
