- DANFS record for this hull: launched 16 November 1942 by Willamette Iron and Steel Corp., Portland, Oreg.; commissioned 5 December 1943, Lieutenant Commander W. C. Kunz, USNR, in command; reported to the Pacific Fleet. Cleared San Francisco 8 February 1944 for Pearl Harbor and Majuro, arriving 9 March; based at Majuro until October 1944 as convoy escort to Pearl Harbor, Kwajalein, Tarawa, Eniwetok, Manus, and Makin; then Eniwetok-based local patrol and escort in the Marianas; February 1945 guarded a convoy to Ulithi in the Iwo Jima preparations; returned to Seattle 6 April 1945 for overhaul; arrived Cold Bay, Alaska, 11 July 1945 to train a Russian crew; decommissioned 16 August 1945 and transferred to the Soviet Union under lend-lease. DANFS specifications block: 630 t; 184'6"; 33' beam; 10' draft; 15 kt; complement 104; armament 1 3"; Admirable class.

- Willamette Iron and Steel construction trades (1942-43); USN crew 1943-45 (complement 104); Soviet trainees July-August 1945 (Project Hula)
- Limitations
- DANFS documents identity, service history, and specifications - not materials or asbestos content. Live NHHC DANFS page returns 404 (standing link-rot note from Batch 01); the verbatim hazegray/losthistory transcription is cited. The entry's bracketed Transcriber's Note ('served as T-595... allegedly scrapped in the U.S.S.R. in 1956') is a volunteer annotation, not DANFS text - the T-595/1956 reading conflicts with the NHC Project Hula monograph and NavSource (T-339, scrapped 1960) and is carried in gaps. The Seattle overhaul yard is not named.

[3]Russell, Richard A., Project Hula: Secret Soviet-American Cooperation in the War Against Japan (Naval Historical Center, Department of the Navy, Washington, 1997), p.39 appendix [other_primary]
- Locator
- Project Hula monograph, appendix p.39 (ship-transfer table, 'Capable (AM 155) / T-339' row)
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- The Naval Historical Center's official Project Hula monograph names this hull in its transfer appendix: 'Capable (AM 155)' transferred to the Soviet Navy with the Soviet designation T-339 - not T-595 as the hazegray DANFS transcriber's note and uboat.net read - with disposition '1960-scrapped'. Russell's sources include the Bureau of Ships 'Ships Data: U.S. Naval Vessels' (NAVSHIPS 250-012, 1949) and S. S. Berezhnoi's Soviet fleet reference, which post-Cold-War scholarship treats as the more reliable designation. The appendix's transfer-date column places AM-155 in the ditto chain below Bond (AM 152) '17 Aug.' - i.e., 17 August 1945, one day later than the 16 August decommissioning/transfer date in DANFS and NavSource.

- Soviet Navy trainees at Cold Bay/Fort Randall; USN training cadre
- Limitations
- Corrects the Soviet designation and documents the transfer program, not any asbestos question - the monograph addresses ship identities and dispositions, not materials or hull condition. The T-339/T-595 and 16-vs-17-August conflicts are carried in gaps rather than resolved: DANFS and NavSource say 16 Aug; the appendix's ditto-mark chain implies 17 Aug (possibly reflecting decommissioning on the 16th and formal transfer on the 17th - no source splits it that way).

- Finding
- NARA's official asbestos-research guide identifies the record series that would document hull-level material specifications for this ship: RG 19 Entry P-11, 'Minesweeper and Minelayer General Information Books' (Item S-68, 1940-1962), and the paper/microfilm Ship Engineering Drawings ('Hull Series') arranged by hull number and Ship Material Group - the guide names S103 (Booklets of General Plans), S39 (Insulation and Lagging), and S48 (Piping) as the codes most relevant to asbestos research. An AM-155-specific drawing or GIB volume, if it survives, is the realistic path to any ship-specific materials finding.

[6]CourtListener API v4 (authenticated) searches for this hull - BLOCKED by sustained rate limiting across the entire research window; see search_ledger [court_record]
- Locator
- search_ledger rows sl-uss-capable-am155-07 through sl-uss-capable-am155-09
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- CourtListener litigation search could not be executed: the shared authenticated API key returned HTTP 429 (2800/day cap, shared across concurrent batch agents) on 20 probes spread across ~3.2 hours (05:10-08:20 CDT) and on all eight planned queries when finally attempted at 08:31 CDT - 'USS Capable' (type=o and RECAP), 'MSF-155', 'AMc-132', 'Capable'+minesweeper, 'Capable'+asbestos, and 'AM-155' (type=o and RECAP). The API's expected-available estimate grew from ~2.9h to ~10.3h over the window, indicating a saturated rolling quota rather than a fixed reset. No litigation finding, positive or negative, is asserted; the search is an open gap, logged as blocked in the search ledger.

- Limitations
- This is a coverage gap, not a substantive negative result: no CourtListener query for this hull completed, so nothing is established either way about docketed litigation naming AM-155. 'Capable' is a common English word and 'AM-155' is a form/policy-number pattern - both are expected high-collision queries requiring full-text review when the API is reachable. A claim naming this hull could exist inside or outside indexed coverage.

[7]DANFS AM-155 entry (vessel type, builder, 1942-43 construction window) + NavSource propulsion data (diesel plant); wartime shipbuilding-materials context [nhhc_danfs]
- Locator
- DANFS AM-155 entry (construction record); NavSource AM-155 specifications block
- Finding type
- asbestos_application
- Finding
- Era/type inference only: a steel Admirable-class fleet minesweeper built 1942-43 at Willamette Iron and Steel, Portland - during the period when asbestos supply was federally reserved for shipbuilding - plausibly carried period-standard asbestos-containing materials in applications typical for the type: diesel exhaust lagging, engine-space insulation, machinery gaskets and packing, electrical insulation, fireproofing, accommodation insulation, and deck covering. Because the plant was diesel (two ALCO 539 engines, no boilers or steam lines), the dominant WWII asbestos pathway aboard steam vessels - boiler and steam-line lagging - did not exist on this hull; expected ACM scope is smaller and differently distributed than aboard a steam vessel of the same era.

- Inference from era, builder, and vessel type only - no ship-specific document names any asbestos product aboard this hull. No material schedule for AM-155 was located (NARA RG 19 series are the lead, ev-05). Diesel propulsion reduces expected ACM scope relative to steam vessels but does not establish absence.
