- Finding
- The Naval History image catalog identifies Edith B. as a 196-gross-ton steam lighter built in 1913 and later renamed Catherine Johnson. It states that she was examined for possible Navy use in 1917 and assigned SP-390; the Navy took her into service in June 1918 and employed her thereafter in the Third Naval District, probably near New York City. She was Freight Lighter No. 161 until July 1920, then YF-161; she was removed from service in November 1930, redesignated YC-660 at about the same time, and sold in late September 1932. The caption to NH 96062 gives the acquisition date as 24 July 1918 and the sale date as 29 September 1932.

- Third Naval District crew and waterfront personnel (1918-1930)
- Limitations
- This is a vessel-history and photograph-catalog record. It does not identify the builder, dimensions beyond tonnage, crew, machinery details, asbestos-containing material, repairs, exposure, causation, or later fate after sale. The page's June-1918 service statement and its 24-July-1918 acquisition caption are retained as an unresolved date discrepancy rather than reconciled by inference.

- Finding
- The NHHC catalog identifies the original print for Photo NH 96062, which depicts Catherine Johnson with other lighters on 5 May 1917, as National Archives Record Group 19-LCM. NARA's guide to Record Group 19 describes records relating to vessel specifications, engineering tests and vessel performances, allowance lists, and Bureau of Ships photographic files. These record descriptions provide an archival route for vessel-specific procurement, equipment, or photographic research.

- Limitations
- Record-group descriptions and one photo-series attribution are not proof that a Catherine Johnson material, repair, or asbestos file survives. No box, folder, plan, allowance list, or work package was retrieved; this row is an archival lead only and supports no asbestos finding.

[4]Batch-8705 research ledger: authoritative Naval History image catalog, NARA RG 19 guide, and CourtListener v4 helper attempt [other_primary]

- Finding
- Public-source review located no ship-specific asbestos survey, abatement contract, hazardous-material disclosure, or material list for Catherine Johnson/SP-390/YF-161/YC-660. Each of the four prescribed CourtListener base queries was invoked once through the authenticated v4 helper, but none returned a result page; the helper explicitly reported the fleet-wide pacing budget momentarily spent on the hull-number docket query. This is an access gap, not a negative CourtListener result.

- Limitations
- The absence of a located public non-litigation record does not prove that asbestos was absent. Because the CourtListener sweep did not return results, this row makes no negative claim about litigation and does not establish absence, exposure, causation, legal eligibility, quantity, location, condition, or present-day material status.
