- Official Navy-authored history verified verbatim via a 2004 Wayback capture; the live NHHC URL returns 404 (link rot consistent with batch-01 standing note). Complement is the listed manning figure, not an exposed-worker population. No asbestos, insulation, or materials information is given.

- Decommissioning date corroborated independently by NARA SL-44 log holdings ending 11/9/1942; NavSource prints '7 November 1942' - variant noted, DANFS date carried. The entry documents no yard period, overhaul, or materials work; no asbestos inference is drawn.

- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- The craft became diving tender YDT-3 in July 1946 and continued serving with the 1st Naval District (NavSource places her at Alexandria, VA). She was reported sold in 1960-61 to Marine Acoustical Services Inc. of Miami and renamed H.C. Hayes; subsequent documented owners were Great Lakes Survey Corporation (research vessel Telson Queen, 1963-70), Selvick Marine Towing (1970-72), and Alan M. Kennedy Jr. (1972-); NavSource adds a 1979 acquisition by Great Lakes Marine Engineering and Salvage of Duluth as the yacht Atlas. The wooden-hulled vessel (97.5 ft, official number 282727) went out of documentation in the 1980s; final fate unknown.

- Limitations
- BGSU is an official-number-level maritime archive; NavSource is a curated secondary compilation. Date variants exist (sale 'reported 1960' in DANFS-era text and BGSU owner begin 1960 vs NavSource '1961'; Atlas acquisition NavSource '1979' vs BGSU name begin '1989'; out-of-documentation NavSource '1985' vs BGSU open-ended). Shipbuildinghistory tabulation gives YDT-3 reclassification as '1943' vs DANFS/BGSU July 1946 - variant noted, July 1946 carried. No asbestos or materials content in any of these sources; the wood-hull datum is construction fact, not an asbestos finding.

[4]NHHC DANFS, 'Energy II (AM-436)' entry [nhhc_danfs]
- Locator
- DANFS Energy II entry, characteristics line and first paragraph; via Wayback capture 20240212191705
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- DANFS distinguishes Energy I (AMC-78) from Energy II (AM-436), an Agile-class fleet minesweeper (dp. 620, 172 ft, complement 74) launched 13 February 1953 by J. M. Martinac Shipbuilding Co., Tacoma, and homeported at Long Beach. Energy II is a distinct hull; its history is excluded from this record.

- Limitations
- Identity separation only: the 1953 Agile-class hull is not an alias, redesignation, or successor of AMC-78. A law-firm marketing page listing 'USS Energy' among minesweepers refers to AM-436, not this hull, and is excluded as a banned source category regardless. No facts are transferred between hulls.

- sl-44-ship-number.pdf, AMC-78 (Energy) row; named-vessel list searched, no Energy/YDT-3 rows: https://www.archives.gov/research/military/logbooks/special-list-44-named
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- NARA Special List 44 lists deck logs for AMC-78 (Energy) covering 1/1/1942 through 11/9/1942 - the full commissioned period - in its ship-number list. The named-vessel list contains no Energy or YDT-3 entries, so no post-decommissioning (in-service/district-craft) logs are indexed under those names.

- Limitations
- Finding-aid entries verified; underlying log pages were not retrieved or read. The holdings describe coverage dates, not events, and establish nothing about materials or asbestos aboard. Whether the logs mention construction, repair, or insulation details is unknown until examined.

- Locator
- search_ledger sl-01 through sl-08; research/uss-energy-amc78/RESEARCH.md
- Finding type

- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos survey, product identification, abatement record, or exposure finding naming this hull was located in the sources reviewed for this batch. DANFS contains no asbestos statement. Ship-specific asbestos documentation remains unknown.

- Limitations
- Bounded-search result, not proof of absence. NARA logs, construction specifications, and any in-service maintenance files remain unread. No inference is made in either direction from the wooden hull, single-diesel design, class, service era, or post-Navy use. Does not establish or defeat any individual claim of exposure.

[7]CourtListener API v4 authenticated helper search, type=o and type=r, combined query [court_record]
- Locator
- search_ledger sl-07/sl-08; per-hit classifications in research/uss-energy-amc78/courtlistener-classification.json
- Finding type
- litigation_documented
- Finding
- The authenticated CourtListener combined exact-name/hull-variant search returned zero opinions and 13 docket results. Every docket hit was classified as a name/token collision - power-barge, mortgage, bankruptcy, RICO, trademark, antitrust, and premises-liability dockets matching on 'Energy', 'AMC', or 'YDT' tokens - not qualifying asbestos litigation naming this vessel.

- Limitations
- All 13 docket exclusions are provisional metadata/snippet-level screening, not full-document clearance; none is asbestos-named or naval-vessel related. Three Michaels Organization P.I. dockets name a property-management defendant, not a ship. No litigation stage or result is attributed to this hull; search absence is not proof that no claim exists.
