- Finding
- The Navy's DANFS entry identifies Kasota as YTB-222, Cahto class; says she was laid down as YT-222 at Elizabeth City Shipyard, launched 20 January 1944, redesignated YTB-222 on 15 May 1944, and placed in service 4 September 1944 for the Fifth Naval District. She operated from Norfolk as a district and service craft until struck from the Navy List on 1 May 1961.

- Limitations
- Establishes identity and service milestones, not asbestos content, crew size, material condition, individual exposure, or causation. The original printed page was checked because OCR misreads the class name as 'Galito'; the scan reads 'Cahto'. DANFS says 'placed in service,' not commissioned.

- Finding
- NARA's Navy asbestos research guide explains that RG 19 ship engineering drawings can include S39 insulation and lagging and S48 piping, and that the microfilm series may preserve more detailed plans than the paper hull series.

- search_ledger rows sl-uss-kasota-yt222-01 through sl-uss-kasota-yt222-04
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos statement was found in the original DANFS entry, the 1944 Navy reclassification publication, or NARA's public Ship Plan Index. The indexed engineering drawings were not opened, so asbestos status aboard Kasota remains unknown.
