  4. [4]DANFS disambiguation; Wikipedia ship-name pages [nhhc_danfs]
    Finding type
    historical_record
    Finding
Name correction: the correct spelling is Kewaydin. Keywadin (1869) was the monitor ex-Kickapoo, renamed 10 August 1869; some texts publish her as Kewaydin. ATA-213 (commissioned 1 June 1945, named Keywadin 1948, sunk as target 2001) is a distinct, later hull. The 1864 Java-class frigate laid down as Kewaydin was renamed Pennsylvania in 1869 and never completed.

  5. [5]CourtListener API v4, authenticated (1,400/day account), queries run 2026-10-06 [court_record]
    Finding type
    litigation_documented
    Finding
CourtListener authenticated sweep 2026-10-06: exact-name opinion query (USS Kewaydin) returned 0 hits; exact-name docket query returned 0 hits. No qualifying asbestos litigation, no other litigation, no name collisions on the exact ship name. Clean negative.

    Role
    negative_finding
    Documentation level
    ship_specific
    Limitations
Exact-name queries are the ship-specific legs. Zero hits is a verified negative for the researched name, not an absence of searching.

  6. [6]CourtListener API v4, authenticated, queries run 2026-10-06 [court_record]
    Finding type
    litigation_documented
    Finding
Hull-number queries (AT-24) returned 69,237 opinion hits and 199,848 docket hits, all high-collision noise (docket numbers, page references, Local 24 matches). Asbestos-qualified variant (AT-24 asbestos) returned 1,279 hits, all generic asbestos cases with no ship mention. Every hit classified as name collision; none qualifying.
    Verification
    unverified
    Role
    negative_finding
    Documentation level
    ship_specific
    Limitations
Hull fragment AT-24 is inherently high-collision; classification rests on the exact-name zero results plus review of asbestos-variant hits, none of which named the vessel.

  7. [7]Negative finding from source sweep 2026-10-06; no primary source located [other_primary]
    Finding type
    historical_record
    Finding
No ship-specific asbestos documentation found in DANFS, NHHC, NARA, or CourtListener sources reviewed. As a 1919-built triple-expansion steam tug, era-typical asbestos applications (boiler insulation, pipe lagging) are plausible as class/era context ONLY and are not attributed to this hull as a finding.
    Verification

    Role
    negative_finding
    Documentation level
    class_or_era
    Limitations
Per hard rules: never infer ship-specific asbestos exposure from class, era, boilers, or steam propulsion. documentation_level class_or_era reflects era context only, not a hull finding.
