[3]Asbestos-specific sweep across authoritative sources (Navy, NARA, HAER, museum records, VA/BVA decision index), completed 2026-09-25 [other_primary]
- Locator
- Web-source and VA/BVA sweeps, 2026-09-25
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos documentation located for USS Knox (APA-46) in any authoritative source searched. No Navy, NARA, HAER, or museum record names asbestos aboard this hull, and no Board of Veterans' Appeals decision naming this hull in an asbestos claim was located. Law-firm marketing pages listing 'USS Knox' without a hull number were excluded as non-authoritative; such lists also implicate the unrelated frigate USS Knox (FF-1052). Ship-specific asbestos status is UNKNOWN.
