    Finding
NavSource lists southern Palau Islands campaign participation from 6 September to 14 October 1944 and China service from 25 September to 16 December 1945. It lists transfer to the Maritime Commission on 18 February 1948, transfer to Argentina as ARA BDI No.11 in 1948, and Argentine Navy disposal in 1951 with final fate unknown. It gives no decommissioning or striking date. Its class specification describes two sets of four GM diesel engines, four per shaft, driving twin variable-pitch propellers.

    Limitations
NavSource is a compiled hull page rather than an original Navy disposal file. Its unknown decommissioning and striking dates remain unknown; neither transfer date can substitute for them. Class machinery specifications are not independently verified for this hull, and complement is not verified against DANFS/NHHC. No asbestos finding follows from service, transfer history, or machinery specifications.

    Limitations
This is a log-coverage index, not a review of the underlying deck logs. The endpoints are not commissioning or decommissioning dates. It does not document asbestos, crew size, or vessel disposition.

PDF page 11, Navy response in enclosure I; GAO report overview
    Finding type
    historical_record
    Finding
GAO's 1979 Navy-wide report and appended Navy response describe asbestos uses in shipboard thermal insulation, decks, electrical cabling, piping gaskets, and packing. The report does not identify LCI(L)-737 or the LCI-351 class.

    Limitations
Navy-wide material context from 1979, decades after this hull's U.S. service. It does not prove any listed material was installed on or encountered aboard LCI(L)-737, and it supplies no ship-specific exposure or causation evidence.

    Finding type
    historical_record
    Finding
The sources reviewed here yielded no ship-specific asbestos survey, product record, or abatement record for LCI(L)-737. Authenticated CourtListener exact-name and hull-designation searches in both opinions and dockets returned zero hits. Ship-specific asbestos documentation remains unknown.

    Limitations
A negative search finding is bounded by the repositories, collections, and exact terms searched. Zero CourtListener hits do not prove that no case exists under another wording or in an unindexed court source. Absence from the reviewed sources does not establish absence of asbestos aboard this hull.

    Finding type
    vessel_history
    Finding
NavSource identifies USS LCI(L)-737 as an LCI-351-class landing craft infantry laid down at Commercial Iron Works, Portland, Oregon, on 16 January 1944, launched on 13 February 1944, and commissioned on 28 February 1944 under Lt. (j.g.) Donald Charles Brockway.

    Limitations
NavSource compiles the history from a 1995 LCI volume and contributed photographs. The page provides hull history, not asbestos content. NARA log coverage beginning on the commissioning date is independent archival coverage, not proof of commissioning.
