    Finding
NavSource identifies LCI(L)-74 and LCI(R)-74 as the same hull and lists Consolidated Steel Corporation, Orange, Texas, as builder; laid down 28 September 1942; launched 8 November 1942; commissioned 2 January 1943; served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater; redesignated LCI(R)-74 on 10 July 1945; decommissioned 13 December 1945; stricken 12 April 1946; transferred to the Maritime Commission on 8 March 1948; later sold for towboat conversion. NavSource only describes continued commercial service as a belief.

    Limitations
NavSource is a specialist historical compilation, not the underlying Navy commissioning or disposal record. Its 10 July 1945 redesignation date needs reconciliation with an NHHC photo caption identifying LCI(R)-74 on 10 June 1945. None of these dates documents asbestos or individual exposure.

    Limitations
The list identifies the span of Navy deck logs in the archive; its endpoints are not independently commissioning, redesignation, or decommissioning dates. The index does not describe asbestos, insulation, or exposure.

Hull history, redesignation line; image caption for Brunei Bay, 10 June 1945
    Finding type
    historical_record
    Finding
NavSource captions a photograph of LCI(R)-74 firing rockets at Brunei Bay on 10 June 1945, a date earlier than its own listed 10 July 1945 redesignation.

    Limitations
The same NavSource page contains both inconsistent statements. An NHHC photo-index search also used LCI(R)-74 for 10 June, but its direct page returned HTTP 404 and is not cited as a live source. The underlying Navy designation order and photograph record need inspection. No asbestos information is provided.

    Population
Navy shipyard workers and fleet policy, not LCI(L)-74 personnel
    Limitations
GAO studied Long Beach and Norfolk shipyards decades after LCI(L)-74's wartime service. It does not name this hull, its builder, or its equipment and cannot establish asbestos aboard this craft. Direct Studio fetch returned 403; the live GAO product page was accessible through indexed web extraction.

    Limitations
Limited public-source search; absence of a located record does not prove absence of asbestos or exposure. CourtListener had not yet supplied a completed authenticated sweep when this finding was recorded, so no litigation negative is asserted.
