- Finding
- The Navy Bureau of Ships lists LCI(L) 753, built by Commercial Iron Works, Portland, Oregon; keel laid 25 March 1944; launched 17 April 1944; date of first commission 29 April 1944.

- Limitations
- The table establishes identity, builder and construction/first-commission dates under the LCI(L) designation. It gives no redesignation, decommissioning, striking or asbestos information; the 15 April 1945 publication predates the recorded reversion to LCI(L) and does not list an LCI(G) row for this hull.

Reclassified Landing Craft Infantry (Gunboat) LCI(G)-753 on 15 June 1944; classification reverted to LCI(L)-753 on 10 September 1945. Assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater; campaigns: Leyte operation (Leyte landings 19-29 November 1944; Ormoc Bay landings 12-13 December 1944) and Luzon operation (Lingayen Gulf landing 4-18 January 1945); earned two battle stars. Decommissioned and struck dates unknown. Transferred to the Maritime Commission 18 February 1948; transferred to the government of Argentina, redesignated ARA BDI No.12, in 1948; disposed of by the Argentine Navy in 1961, fate unknown.

- NavSource is a volunteer secondary compilation, not a primary registry; its unsourced dates and the LCI(G) reclassification date rest on the cited Turner Publishing history. No photographs of this hull exist in the archive. The ship's own December 1944 and June 1945 action reports are headed 'U.S.S. On the 12 December return passage the convoy was attacked by approximately fifteen aircraft; USS Caldwell (DD-605) was hit by a suicide plane and LCI(L) 753 picked up six survivors (two ambulatory, four stretcher cases); Ensign Samuel R. Gregg and Fireman Jesse J. Hildreth entered the water and swam to widely scattered survivors, which the report singles out as noteworthy - and she expended a further 474 rounds of 20 mm.

- Finding
- The NPS NRHP registration for sister hull USS LCI-713 (NRHP 07000300; same LCI-351 class, built by George Lawley & Son, Neponset MA) documents the class design: all-welded construction of approximately quarter-inch steel plate; eight General Motors 6-71 diesel engines in two banks of four driving twin shafts with four-foot variable-pitch propellers; diesel-powered cook stoves; mufflers venting diesel exhaust underwater; troop capacity about 200; cruise radius 4,000 miles. Full-text search of the 40-page nomination found no mention of asbestos, insulation materials, or hazardous materials. It also notes a blueprint file for LCI-351-class vessels maintained at the National Archives.

- No qualifying ship-specific asbestos record located: no asbestos survey, abatement contract, product inventory, hazmat disclosure, or verified litigation naming USS LCI(L)-753 / LCI(G)-753 was found in the public sources searched. CourtListener opinion-index searches on five quoted hull spellings - 'LCI(L)-753', 'LCI(G)-753', 'LCI(L) 753', 'LCI 753', 'LCI-753' - each returned count 0 (verified 2026-09-30); the 'USS LCI(L)-753' opinion query and all RECAP docket queries were fleet-throttled and remain open (see search_ledger). The only 'asbestos aboard' material surfaced is law-firm marketing content asserting asbestos generically - excluded by source policy.
