- NavSource reports that LCI(L)-949 was laid down on 31 January 1944 at Consolidated Steel Corporation, Shipbuilding Division, Orange, Texas; launched on 3 March 1944; and commissioned USS LCI(L)-949 on 27 March 1944. It reports assignment to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II; decommissioning and transfer at Cold Bay, Alaska, to the Soviet Union on 10 June 1945 as DS-44; return to U.S. naval custody in 1955 and striking from the Naval Register; and final disposition as unknown.
