    Finding
The NavSource hull page identifies this vessel as LCS(L)(3)-1-class Landing Craft Support (Large) (Mark 3), laid down 15 November 1944 at Albina Engine and Machine Works Inc., Portland OR; launched 14 December 1944; and commissioned USS LCS(L)(3)-69 on 22 January 1945 with LT. F. W. Harlow, USNR, in command. It places the ship in LCS(L)(3) Flotilla Four, Group Twelve, Division Twenty-Three, credits the Okinawa Gunto operation from 10 May to 30 June 1945 and one battle star, and records Far East occupation service from 2 September 1945 to 20 March 1946. It records postwar decommissioning and Pacific Reserve Fleet lay-up without dates, redesignation as USS LSSL-69 on 28 February 1949, an undated strike from the Naval Register, and reported sale on 20 March 1951 to Joseph Rosenthal's Sons, Inc., New York, for $9,550.55, final fate unknown. The specifications block lists all-diesel propulsion: two quad packs of four General Motors 6051 series 71 diesel engines per shaft, 1,600 BHP, General Motors main reduction gears, two 60 kW 450V AC diesel-driven ship-service generators, and twin variable-pitch propellers; complement six officers and 65 enlisted.

    Limitations
NavSource is a volunteer compilation, not an official Navy archival record; its ship-specific chronology and specification transcription require primary-source corroboration where available. It contains no asbestos or material-content information and does not establish asbestos presence, quantity, condition, exposure, causation, or legal eligibility. The stated decommissioning and strike dates are unknown on the page.

    Finding type
    litigation_documented
    Finding
A final federal administrative decision documents asbestos exposure conditions at this hull's builder yard after the hull's construction: a shipyard carpenter worked at Willamette Iron and Steel through 1956, Albina Engine and Machine through 1957, and Lockheed through 1960, and died of pleural mesothelioma in 2002. The Benefits Review Board affirmed the administrative law judge's finding that Albina Engine was the last employer to expose the decedent to asbestos and was the responsible employer for benefits.

    1956-1960 employment; 2002 death; 2008 decision
    Population
Albina Engine and Machine shipyard worker, 1956-1957; later administrative claimant
    Limitations
This is a final affirmed administrative responsible-employer determination, not a pleading allegation. It is yard-level evidence for a worker whose Albina employment in 1956-57 postdates this hull's November 1944-January 1945 construction by more than a decade. It does not identify USS LCS(L)(3)-69, establish asbestos aboard the hull, establish conditions at the yard in 1944-45, quantify material, or establish another person's exposure, causation, or legal eligibility.

    Finding type
    historical_record
    Finding
No qualifying ship-specific asbestos document was located in the completed public-source review for USS LCS(L)(3)-69 / USS LSSL-69: no asbestos survey, abatement record, hazmat disclosure, product identification, or qualifying court record naming this hull was located. Authenticated CourtListener searches for the exact ship name and hull/designation did not complete because the required fleet-wide helper remained in its shared pacing wait beyond this environment's command window; CourtListener is therefore an explicit incomplete research gap, not a no-result finding.

    Limitations
Absence of a located public record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard or defeat an exposure claim. The CourtListener portion is incomplete and must not be represented as a negative search result. NHHC/DANFS and NVR coverage for this WWII craft was not located; NARA Catalog is JavaScript-rendered in this environment; Firecrawl's keyless MCP quota was exhausted before the requested searches could run; GAO HRD-80-2 returned HTTP 403 to direct fetch. None of those access gaps establishes a material fact.
