- Finding
- DANFS identifies Lillian Anne (YFB-41) as built in 1895 as Riverside by Delaware River Iron & Shipbuilding Works, Chester, Pennsylvania. The Navy acquired her under a bareboat charter from Capt. R. W. Gatewood of Norfolk and placed her in service on 6 December 1942. She served in the Fifth Naval District until 9 July 1943, when she was placed out of service and returned to her owner. The DANFS specification line gives 330 gross tons and length 160 feet.

- Civilian construction workers (1895); Fifth Naval District personnel associated with the craft (1942-1943)
- Limitations
- The cited source is an archived official page: the direct NHHC URL returned HTTP 404 on 2026-10-04. It establishes identity and the short Navy service window, but contains no asbestos, insulation, machinery-material, crew, survey, abatement, or exposure information.

- Finding
- NavSource's vessel chronology identifies Riverside (Official No. 111098) as Delaware River Iron & Shipbuilding Works yard no. 281, completed in 1895 for Chester Freight Line; records later transfers and a 1928 rebuild as a freighter with diesel engines under the name Lillian Anne; and lists one 6-cylinder diesel engine, one propeller, and 360 bhp. Its Navy timeline agrees with DANFS on placement in service on 6 December 1942, Fifth Naval District assignment, and return to owner on 9 July 1943. It additionally reports an offer for sale by the Maritime Commission in December 1947, transfer to Honduran flag in 1947, and deletion from registers in 1953.

- Population
- Civilian vessel personnel before and after Navy charter; Fifth Naval District personnel (1942-1943)
- Limitations
- NavSource is a volunteer secondary compilation, not an official registry. Its 141 ft 5 in length conflicts with DANFS's 160 ft specification line, and its later civilian-disposition statements were not independently verified in an official record. It contains no asbestos or material-content information; the diesel description cannot establish asbestos presence or absence.

[4]Batch-8751 source review: NHHC DANFS archived capture and NavSource YFB-41 page; see search ledger [other_primary]

- search_ledger rows sl-uss-lillian-anne-yfb41-01 through -04
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No qualifying ship-specific asbestos documentation was located in the accessible DANFS archive capture or the live NavSource YFB-41 page: neither source identifies asbestos, an asbestos-containing product, insulation material, a survey, abatement, maintenance work, or an exposure event aboard Lillian Anne. The reviewed public record therefore does not support a documented-asbestos finding for this hull.

- Limitations
- This is a negative finding about the public sources searched, not proof that asbestos was absent aboard the vessel. CourtListener request-result payloads were not recoverable after the helper process detached, so this row does not assert a litigation-search result; that gap is separately disclosed.

- Section 181.2.4, Records of the 5th Naval District (Norfolk, VA)
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- NARA's Guide to Federal Records identifies Record Group 181, Records of Naval Districts and Shore Establishments, as holding Fifth Naval District (Norfolk) Commandant central subject files (1926-1960), general correspondence (1939-1957), miscellaneous correspondence (1926-1940), armed-guard ship files (1945), and a history of Fifth Naval District and naval-base activities (1939-1946), in Philadelphia. These are potential research paths for the vessel's 1942-1943 Fifth Naval District service.
