Opening narrative paragraph, identifying the second Limpkin.
    Finding type

    Finding
The later Limpkin (MSC-195) is a different vessel: NHHC explicitly identifies her as the second Limpkin and dates her construction to 1953. Her history must not be attributed to AMc-48.

    Finding
After shakedown off Yorktown, Limpkin reported to the 3rd Naval District at New York City on 9 August, as stated in DANFS. She swept New York shipping channels during the war. Transfer to the 5th Naval District on 18 December 1943 brought a Norfolk homeport and operations at the mouth of Chesapeake Bay for the remainder of the war.

    Limitations
The sequence of shakedown and the 9 August reporting date is reproduced from DANFS without reconstructing an itinerary. Homeport and operating area do not establish a repair-yard visit, material installation, or asbestos exposure.
