- Finding
- The live LSM-150 hull page records that the LSM-1-class vessel was laid down 11 May 1944 at Charleston Navy Yard, Charleston, South Carolina; launched 2 June 1944; and commissioned 15 July 1944 with Lt. George B. McCauley, Jr., USN, in command. It records Asiatic-Pacific campaigns at Mindoro (15-18 December 1944), Visayan Islands (11 April 1945), and Balikpapan (1-2 July 1945), followed by Far East occupation service from 7 October to 28 November 1945. It records decommissioning at New Orleans on 13 May 1946 and sale in October 1946 to Mechanical Equipment Co., New Orleans, with later fate unknown.

[5]GAO, Navy Efforts To Protect Workers From Asbestos Exposure, HRD-80-2 (published Oct. 18, 1979) [gao]

- GAO product-page Highlights
- Finding type
- gov_survey
- Finding
- GAO's 1979 Navy-wide review states that it reviewed use of asbestos in Navy ships and reports that the Navy's 1975 policy was to remove and replace with nonasbestos material only insulation that was damaged or had to be removed for repairs; the policy was modified in 1979 to selectively replace asbestos insulation in high-maintenance areas. The review concerned Long Beach and Norfolk Naval Shipyards, not LSM-150 or Charleston Navy Yard.

- Population
- Navy ships and shipyard workers reviewed by GAO at Long Beach and Norfolk
- Limitations
- Navy-wide, post-service program context only. It neither names nor studies LSM-150, Charleston Navy Yard, or any material on this hull; it does not establish hull-specific asbestos presence, quantity, condition, exposure, or causation.

[6]CourtListener API v4 via /Users/charlesfletcher/devin-prompts/cl-auth-search.py (authenticated, fleet-paced) [court_record]
- Locator
- search_ledger sl-uss-lsm-150-lsm150-05; helper output: fleet-wide request budget momentarily spent
- Finding type
- litigation_documented
- Finding
- The required authenticated CourtListener sweep could not be completed. The helper was used for exact-name opinion and docket requests for "USS LSM-150" and, after a delayed retry, a hull-number opinion request for "LSM-150"; each request returned the fleet-wide pacing stand-down before any results. The hull-number docket request was not sent after the helper repeatedly instructed against retrying in a loop.

- Limitations
- This is an access limitation, not a no-result or negative litigation finding. No case is classified from the incomplete sweep, and state-court, unindexed, and non-RECAP material are outside CourtListener coverage.

[7]Source-review negative across NARA RG 181 finding aid, NavSource LSM-150 hull page, GAO HRD-80-2, and search ledger [other_primary]
- Locator
- search_ledger sl-uss-lsm-150-lsm150-01 through -07
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- The completed public-source review located no ship-specific asbestos survey, product inventory, abatement record, material specification, or disposal-material record for LSM-150. The NARA finding aid, live hull page, and GAO Navy-wide review document an archival lead, vessel identity/history, and era context respectively, but none identifies asbestos aboard this hull.

- Limitations
- A negative public-source finding is not proof that asbestos was absent. Undigitized commissioning files, deck logs, Bureau of Ships specifications, shipyard records, disposal records, or litigation outside the incomplete CourtListener sweep may contain additional evidence; documentation therefore remains class_or_era.
