Federal Shipbuilding construction trades; USS LSM-270 crew; Okinawa operation personnel
    Limitations
The live page is a naval-history archive rather than a current Navy register record; it supports the stated timeline and explicitly says the Naval Register strike date was unknown. It contains no asbestos, material-condition, exposure, or causation finding.

    Finding
The official Naval History and Heritage Command account of a Japanese pilot recovered near Okinawa identifies LSM-270 as the ship to which LCS-112 transferred the prisoner for delivery to higher authorities. It states that LSM-270's war diary recorded the prisoner's medical treatment, death aboard ship on 25 April 1945, and burial at sea the following morning. The same NHHC article includes a photograph caption identifying USS LSM-270, NH 102680.

    Limitations
The article is an official operational-history account and does not document asbestos or ship materials. The direct Studio-side fetch timed out; the live NHHC URL and indexed article content were checked through the web fallback.

    Finding
No ship-specific asbestos survey, abatement record, hazmat disclosure, material list, or primary exposure record naming USS LSM-270 was located in the bounded source review. No qualifying asbestos litigation finding was established because the required authenticated CourtListener exact-name and exact-hull requests were held by the fleet pacing limiter before returning results.

    Limitations
This is an access-bounded negative finding, not proof that asbestos was absent and not a conclusion about litigation. CourtListener searches were initiated only through the authenticated helper and then stopped when the shared limiter queued the requests; Firecrawl reported a multi-hour quota stand-down. Non-digitized Navy, NARA, shipyard, disposal, and court records remain possible sources.
