Decommissioned 28 October 1949 at Astoria, OR; laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, Columbia River Group, Astoria; struck from the Naval Register, date unknown. Sold October 1958 to Hugo Neu Corp., New York, NY, for conversion to a barge; renamed Kate in 1980; fate unknown.

[4]Era inference drawn from NavSource specifications (ev-02) and GAO HRD-80-2 (ev-04); no ship-specific source [other_primary]
- Locator
- NavSource specifications block (ev-02); GAO HRD-80-2 product-page summary (ev-04)
- Finding type
- asbestos_application
- Finding
- Era inference only, built on: NavSource specifications (two Fairbanks Morse diesel engines, no steam plant - see ev-02) and GAO's documentation of Navy-wide shipboard asbestos insulation use through the early 1970s (see ev-04). A diesel-propelled landing ship commissioned in 1945, within the Navy's documented asbestos-use era, would plausibly have carried era-standard applications on auxiliary and exhaust systems - diesel-exhaust lagging, gaskets, valve packing, and electrical insulation - but NOT boiler/turbine thermal lagging, since there is no steam plant aboard this class. No source names LSM-341 specifically in connection with any of these products.

- Shipyard construction trades (1944-45, builder unknown-asbestos-use status); crew (1945-1949)
- Limitations
- This row is an inference, not a finding: no source names LSM-341 in connection with asbestos, gaskets, packing, lagging, or insulation of any kind. It does not establish quantity, location, product manufacturer, individual exposure, or legal eligibility. Must not be read as 'documented aboard this hull.'

- Finding type
- gov_survey
- Finding
- GAO documented that the Navy used asbestos insulation extensively aboard its ships fleet-wide and did not begin substituting alternative insulation materials until the early 1970s - a period spanning this hull's entire construction (1944-45) and active-duty service (1945-49).

- pre-1970s through 1979 (report date)
- Population
- Navy shipyard and shipboard trades, fleet-wide
- Limitations
- Program-level, fleet-wide documentation only; LSM-341 is not named and the report's reviewed fieldwork sites (per prior batches' full-text review) were other yards. Supports era context for asbestos use in the Navy generally, not a hull-specific finding.

[6]Batch-6153 search ledger (this record): NavSource; NHHC DANFS (no entry exists); NVR (not digitized); NARA catalog (no record located); GAO (blocked, product page used); CourtListener (2 of 3 queries completed at 0 results, 1 blocked); secondary web litigation sweep [other_primary]
- Locator
- search_ledger rows sl-uss-lsm-341-lsm341-01 through -09
- Finding type
- litigation_documented
- Finding
- No qualifying ship-specific asbestos record located: no survey, abatement contract, hazmat disclosure, or verified litigation naming USS LSM-341 was found in the public sources searched. CourtListener searches: "LSM-341" returned 0 results as both opinion (type=o) and docket (type=r) (both confirmed live, 2026-10-01); "USS LSM-341" (type=o) could not be completed - blocked by fleet-wide pacing on four attempts over ~15 minutes (burst/hourly limit, not daily-quota exhaustion - see gaps). Secondary web sweeps for asbestos/mesothelioma litigation naming this hull surfaced no law-firm marketing material or litigation content of any kind, only unrelated SEO/spam pages keyword-matching "asbestos litigation" generically.

- Limitations
- Honest negative/incomplete result: no qualifying ship-specific asbestos record found in the sources that WERE searched, but CourtListener's broader-phrase query was blocked by fleet-wide pacing and not completed (see gaps) - this is an open gap, not a confirmed absence of litigation. Does not establish that no litigation exists.

[7]Cross-check only: uboat.net, Allied Warships, USS LSM 341 (non-authoritative secondary database; not adopted as a record source) [other_primary]
- Locator
- Fate/dates block on the ship detail page
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- CORRECTION/FLAG: NavSource (the ship-specific record of reference for this hull) states she was "struck from the Naval Register, date unknown." A non-authoritative secondary database, uboat.net's Allied Warships, instead lists a strike date of 30 August 1957 and an order date of 9 December 1943 - neither figure appears in NavSource or any official source reviewed. Per this batch's source-tier policy, uboat.net is not adopted as a citable record source; both figures are carried only as an unresolved secondary-source conflict in gaps, not as the record's stricken value.
