[2]DANFS, Salmon Falls River (LSMR-530), Vol. VI (1976), p. 268; live NHHC link is 404, verbatim transcription retrieved from Haze Gray [nhhc_danfs]
- Locator
- DANFS Vol. VI p. 268, Salmon Falls River entry and specification block
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- DANFS identifies LSMR-530, ex-LSM-530, as built by Brown Shipbuilding Co., Inc., Houston, Texas, in June and July 1945; launched 7 July; and commissioned 20 September. It describes post-commissioning trials and amphibious training from Little Creek, Virginia, reserve status in March 1946, berthing with the Green Cove Springs Group of the Atlantic Reserve Fleet, renaming Salmon Falls River on 1 October 1955, striking on 1 October 1958, and scrapping. Its specification block identifies an LSMR-501-class rocket landing ship with complement 138 and 13-knot speed.

- Brown Shipbuilding construction workers; crew; Atlantic Reserve Fleet caretakers
- Limitations
- Ship-specific history, not asbestos documentation. The live NHHC URL linked by NavSource returned HTTP 404 on 2026-10-01; this is a verbatim secondary-host transcription. DANFS says the vessel was out of commission in March 1946 and scrapped, which conflicts with NavSource's 25 June 1946 decommissioning and 1959 barge-conversion account; neither conflict is resolved here.

- vessel_history
- Finding
- NavSource's live hull page records laying down in June 1945 at Brown Ship Building Co., Houston; launching 7 July 1945; commissioning USS LSM(R)-530 on 20 September 1945 under Lt. James A. Whiting, USNR; decommissioning on 25 June 1946 at Green Cove Springs, Florida; Atlantic Reserve Fleet lay-up; naming USS Salmon Falls River (LSMR-530) on 1 October 1955; striking on 1 October 1958; and a reported 1959 sale and barge conversion with fate unknown. Its specifications list two General Motors 16-278A direct-drive diesels, twin screws, 2,800 shp, and 6 officers plus 137 enlisted.

- Construction workers; crew; reserve-fleet caretakers; reported barge-conversion workers
- Limitations
- NavSource is a specialist volunteer archive rather than an official registry. It contains no asbestos finding. Its June 1946 decommissioning, 1959 sale/barge conversion, and 143-person complement conflict with the DANFS transcription and remain unresolved.

[4]U.S. Navy, LSM Class Manual, 1 March 1944, Serial No. 1766, issued to USS LSM-294; scanned section set hosted by NavSource, considered with LSMR-530 diesel specifications [other_primary]
- Locator
- Manual index: Main Propelling Machinery, Auxiliary Machinery, Pumps/Tanks/Piping, and Ventilation sections; NavSource hull-page diesel specifications
- Finding type
- asbestos_application
- Finding
- The documented direct-drive diesel configuration places this 1945 rocket landing ship in a class/era pathway where thermal insulation on hot machinery and exhaust runs, diesel-exhaust lagging, gaskets, valve packing, and electrical insulation are research targets. There was no steam plant, so boiler and turbine lagging are not pathways for this hull.

- Population
- LSM-family construction, maintenance, and crew populations
- Limitations
- Class-family/era inference only. The manual is for base-design USS LSM-294, not this LSM(R) rocket variant, and the scanned pages are image-only; no hull-specific material list, insulation survey, or work package was located. This row identifies research pathways, not confirmed materials, quantities, manufacturers, exposure, or causation.

- Population
- Navy shipyard workers and asbestos-protection program
- Limitations
- Navy-program context only, not hull-specific evidence. The GAO product page was live-verified but the full report was blocked by HTTP 403, so no unreviewed report detail is attributed here. It does not establish asbestos aboard this hull, any material quantity, exposure, or causation.

[6]CourtListener API v4 authenticated search via cl-auth-search.py: opinion query "USS Salmon Falls River" (0 results); additional searches pacing-blocked [court_record]
- Locator
- search_ledger rows sl-uss-lsm-r-530-lsmr530-06 through -08
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- The authenticated CourtListener API v4 exact-name opinion search for "USS Salmon Falls River" returned zero results. The required exact-name docket and "LSMR-530" opinion/docket searches were blocked when the fleet-wide pacing helper denied tokens; the "LSM(R)-530" variant was not initiated after the stand-down. No anonymous or raw CourtListener request was made.

- Limitations
- A zero-result exact-name opinion search is not a completed litigation clearance. The exact-name docket search and both LSMR-530 searches did not receive a fleet pacing token, and the LSM(R)-530 variant was not initiated after stand-down; no conclusion is made about litigation, asbestos exposure, causation, or eligibility. Any future case result must be classified at its actual procedural stage.
