    Finding
The Colton builder's-yard table for Bethlehem Quincy (Fore River) carries LST-1015 as yard hull number 1591, delivered 8 May 1944 (consistent with the DANFS/NavSource commissioning date), with disposition listed as 'Scrapped 1947'. LST-1015 does not appear in the companion Bethlehem-Hingham table, confirming the hull was built at the main Quincy yard rather than the Hingham satellite that built other LST blocks.

    Limitations
Compiled secondary source, not a primary document: the 'Scrapped 1947' disposition conflicts with NavSource's 'fate unknown' and is unverified by any primary disposal record. Yard-hull-number attribution (1591) is consistent with the sequential Quincy LST block. Supports no asbestos claim.

    Finding
Era/design inference for a diesel-powered LST-542-design hull: no boilers - the steam-lagging pathway does not apply. Asbestos-relevant applications for the type are GM diesel engine and exhaust lagging and gaskets, engine-room thermal and machinery insulation, deck coverings and tile, bulkhead and accommodation insulation, valve packing, and winch/windlass brake linings - era-standard materials during the period when the federal government had reserved asbestos supply for shipbuilding.

Construction trades (Bethlehem Quincy, 1944); ship's crew 1944-46; disposal-yard workers (fate unverified)
    Limitations
Class/era inference only - no ship-specific record names this hull's insulation or materials. The design table establishes the machinery fit, not material composition. Does not establish that asbestos was or remains aboard, nor quantity, location, exposure, or causation for any individual.

Peer-reviewed historical study documents that asbestos was used extensively as a fireproofing and insulating material in U.S. shipbuilding during WWII, the era and program under which this hull was built at a Bethlehem Steel yard in 1944, and that wartime demand drove unprecedented asbestos utilization in ship construction.

    Finding
No qualifying ship-specific record located: no asbestos survey, abatement contract, hazmat disclosure, museum record, NVR entry, or MARAD status card naming LST-1015 was found in the public sources searched (see search_ledger). Litigation databases could not be checked this session - CourtListener fleet pacing budget exhausted; logged as blocked, not searched-negative. The hull's 1946 State Department disposal and unverified fate foreclose any present-day-condition statement.

    Limitations
Absence of a located public record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard - a 1944 hull built to era-standard specifications plausibly carried era materials. Does not establish that asbestos was or was not present; does not establish or defeat any claim of exposure or legal eligibility.
