    Finding
The Armada de Chile history page says the U.S. adopted the ship for aircraft and helicopter repair and that it served under the Pacific Fleet Air Command in World War II; it was deactivated at San Diego in 1946, reactivated as Aventinus on 8 July 1950, operated at Okinawa, Midway, and Japan, and was deactivated in 1956. Chile received it under a loan agreement authorized in 1963; official transfer was 23 August 1963, it reached Chile 2 March 1964, and it was used as a transport after its aviation workshop was removed. After grounding at Valparaíso on 10 April 1980 and refloating on 17 May, it was towed to Talcahuano and removed from service on 2 June 1980 under DGSA Resolution 4281/1.

U.S. Navy and Chilean Navy crews; 1945-1980
    Limitations
Official Chilean Navy history page; dates and disposition are carried as that source reports them. The inaccessible DANFS indexed text reports a later scuttling in August 1980, which could not be verified live or in Wayback. This source contains no asbestos or material information. The page lists a 110-person complement, but that figure is omitted because it was not verified against accessible DANFS/NHHC content.

    Finding
The National Archives Ship Plan Index lists an Aventinus, ARV(E)-3 hull-series ship-engineering-drawings record (National Archives Identifier 153714135) and a corresponding microfilm entry (175668327). This identifies a ship-specific archival lead; the index does not provide drawings or establish asbestos content.

    Limitations
Index entry only. The underlying drawings were not retrieved or reviewed. No material schedule, asbestos survey, or asbestos finding is established by this row.

    Finding
No ship-specific asbestos survey, abatement record, hazardous-material disclosure, or material schedule was located in the public sources accessed for this record. Asbestos presence or absence aboard the hull remains unknown.

    Limitations
A search result is not proof that no record exists. NHHC DANFS and Firecrawl access were unavailable, the underlying NARA drawings were not retrieved, and the authenticated CourtListener sweep was blocked by fleet-wide pacing. Do not interpret this row as a finding that asbestos was absent.

  5. [5]Armada de Chile, Barcaza "Águila" 5° - historical entry for former USS LST 1092 / Aventinus; official Chilean Navy history page [other_primary]
    Locator
Historical entry, prior names and launch details at lines 50-60
    Finding type
    vessel_history
    Finding
The Armada de Chile history page lists prior designations USS LST 1092, ARVE-3, and USS ARVE-2 Aventinus (the page gives both ARVE-3 and ARVE-2) and identifies the vessel as Águila in Chilean service. It identifies American Bridge Co. at Ambridge as the builder and gives the year as 1945 and launch date as 17 March 1945.

    Limitations
Official Chilean Navy history page; its designation list is internally inconsistent (ARVE-3 and ARVE-2), and its launch date (17 March 1945) differs from the inaccessible NHHC DANFS indexed text (24 March 1945). The NHHC page returned HTTP 404 and the Wayback capture also returned 404, so that conflict is unresolved. This source contains no asbestos or material information.
