    Finding
NHHC states that Megara (ARVA-6), originally LST-1095, was redesignated and named on 14 December 1944; laid down by American Bridge Co. at Ambridge, Pennsylvania, on 22 January 1945; launched on 25 April 1945; placed in reduced commission on 19 June 1945; commissioned on 27 June 1945; decommissioned on 3 June 1946; recommissioned on 5 January 1951; and decommissioned on 16 January 1956. The DANFS entry says she then returned to reserve and was berthed in Orange, Texas.

    Limitations
The DANFS account documents Navy service through its 1956 report and does not establish later transfer, present location, final fate, or asbestos-containing materials. No operational history claims beyond this entry are made.

    Finding type
    asbestos_application
    Finding
The consulted NHHC DANFS entry provides construction, conversion, repair-ship service, and reserve history but does not document asbestos aboard LST-1095/Megara. Ship-specific asbestos documentation remains unknown.

    Study period
    Research through 2026-10-02
    Limitations
This is a bounded negative finding about the consulted DANFS entry, not proof that asbestos was absent. Firecrawl search and scrape were unavailable because the configured MCP had exhausted its keyless quota. Authenticated CourtListener exact-name opinion search returned zero results; broad hull-number opinion results were not screened fully, and docket searches remain incomplete under the fleet pacing limit.
