At Lingayen 7-10 January 1945 the ship's reports (COMINCH F-P01 AA form) record taking a 'Kate' under fire 7 January in the South China Sea (96 rounds 20MM, 40MM rounds; no hits on ship) and engaging single attackers 9-10 January at Lingayen Gulf (34 rounds 20MM, 34 rounds 40MM on the 10th; 'Number of hits on ship by bombs - None ... Asbestos-relevant applications aboard a 1943 diesel landing ship of this type were the era-standard set - diesel-exhaust and machinery-space lagging, gaskets and packing, accommodation thermal insulation, deck coverings - and the documented 6 May-7 August 1945 General Engineering & Dry Dock 'major repairs and alterations' availability including newly installed anti-aircraft armament (ev-03/04/05), followed by the 15 September 1945 LST(H) hospital-ship redesignation, placed interior rework aboard this hull inside the Navy's asbestos-use era.

- Finding
- Primary archive coverage for this hull is unusually complete: a near-complete digitized war-diary run (monthly units Oct 1943-Nov 1945 surfaced; consolidated units cover Jan-Mar 1944 and Apr-Jul 1944 gaps), a ship-produced War History, a Luzon AA-action report file unit, and the complete muster-roll set (338 images spanning commissioning through decommissioning month) all digitized. The muster rolls (sampled: cover page + crew-list pages verified) document every crewman aboard by name, rate, and service number - a per-man population record for the hull's entire commissioned life. No BuPers Casualty Information Report for this hull was surfaced (unlike sister hulls).

- Limitations
- Archival-lead row: the muster rolls were sampled, not enumerated - per-date crew counts are available but were not compiled this session. Ship-titled diaries for December 1945-March 1946 were not surfaced (series coverage ends ~June 1946 and ships in inactivation may not have filed); WWII deck logs proper for this hull are not in the digitized deck-log program checked. RG 181/RG 71 yard work-package records for the Alameda availability and Evansville construction are open archival leads.
