- Finding
- LST-176 was laid down 1943-01-18 at Evansville, Indiana, by Missouri Valley Bridge & Iron Co.; launched 1943-04-15; and commissioned 1943-05-12. It served in the European theater and participated in the Normandy invasion in June 1944, then performed occupation duty in the Far East through early January 1946. It was decommissioned 1946-01-06, transferred to the Shipping Control Authority, Japan, returned to U.S. Navy control on 1952-03-31, served with the Military Sea Transportation Service as USNS T-LST-176, and was stricken from the Navy list 1973-11-01. DANFS states it earned one World War II battle star.

- Limitations
- The NHHC live URL returned HTTP 404 on 2026-10-02; this citation is explicitly to its 2025-12-09 archived snapshot. The entry does not identify asbestos materials, quantify exposure, or establish the vessel's later disposition after striking.

- Limitations
- This is an index of available deck-log dates, not the logs themselves and not evidence of any particular movement or onboard condition. It does not address asbestos.

[4]Batch 6735 official-source review and search ledger, 2026-10-02 [other_primary]
- Locator
- BATCH-6735-REPORT.md, research decisions, negative findings, and gaps; search_ledger entries CL-01 through CL-05 and FC-01
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos survey, abatement record, or other direct asbestos documentation was located in the accessible official sources reviewed for this batch. No CourtListener result was confirmed: authenticated exact-name requests timed out or were stopped by the fleet-pacing stand-down, and the hull-number request was stopped by the stand-down. Ship-specific asbestos status remains unknown; the litigation sweep is incomplete.

- Research conducted 2026-10-02
- Limitations
- This is a bounded search result, not proof that records do not exist. Firecrawl MCP was unavailable because its keyless quota reported a roughly three-hour cooldown. CourtListener was accessed only through the authenticated fleet helper; no anonymous or v3 requests were made. The CourtListener gap must not be interpreted as a no-result.
