- DANFS entry in full: 'LST-367 was laid down on 13 October 1942 at Quincy, Mass., by the Bethlehem Steel Co.; launched on 24 November 1942; sponsored by Mrs. Alfred W. Anthony, Jr.; and delivered to and commissioned by representatives of the United Kingdom on 29 December 1942. She was returned to United States Navy custody on 17 December 1945 and struck from the Navy list on 21 January 1946. - Limitations
- NavSource is a volunteer secondary compilation tracking official records, not a primary registry; campaign attribution rests on its Royal Navy history section (IWM-sourced photography). Contains no asbestos content. The November 1944 collision is documented without counterparty or location detail. Armament shown is the period RN-fitted fit; generic secondary lists carry differing US-design armament figures.

- Finding
- The builder's own production list carries this hull as Fore River hull number 1528: 'LST 367 / LST 1 Class Tank Landing Ship / US Navy for Royal Navy / New / delivered 29 Dec 1942 / Scrapped 1948' - corroborating DANFS on the delivery/commissioning date and the 1948 disposal.

- Limitations
- Secondary mirror of a yard-compiled production list, not the original document; hazegray.org itself was unreachable this session and the losthistory.net mirror was used. 'Scrapped 1948' is consistent with DANFS's 18 March 1948 sale-for-scrap; a secondary compilation (navalmarinearchive.com) carries a conflicting 'scrapped 1947' - unresolved variant logged in gaps. Contains no asbestos content.

- Finding
- Era/design inference for this hull: an LST-1-class diesel tank landing ship built at Fore River (Quincy) October-December 1942 carries no boilers or steam plant - the documented propulsion is two General Motors 12-567A diesels (900 hp each) with Falk reduction gears. Asbestos-relevant applications aboard a ship of this type and period were diesel exhaust lagging and gaskets, engine-room thermal/acoustic insulation, deck coverings/tile, bulkhead and accommodation insulation, and winch/windlass brake linings. The WWII U.S. shipbuilding program of which this hull was a product is documented as having used asbestos insulation extensively (GAO program-level documentation of Navy asbestos use through the early 1970s).

- Finding
- Yard-level litigation documentation for the builder of this hull: the Massachusetts SJC opinion in O'Connor v. Raymark Industries concerns asbestos-disease product liability against Raybestos-Manhattan's successor and contains 'Fore River' references (phrase-match verified via CourtListener search); the Atlas shipyards.json record for fore-river-shipyard documents 'Raybestos-Manhattan asbestos welding blankets' used for 'welder protection from sparks at Bethlehem Steel (Fore River) Shipyard' in the 1940s - the yard and decade of this hull's construction.

CourtListener API v4 returned zero results on 2026-10-02 for quoted searches '"LST-367"' (opinions and RECAP dockets), '"LST 367"' (opinions), and '"USS LST-367"' (opinions); a general secondary-web sweep surfaced no qualifying asbestos litigation or law-firm/claims content specific to this hull.

- Limitations
- Absence of a located public record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard - the hull was Royal Navy-operated, and its operational/work records sit largely in UK National Archives ADM series (undigitized). CourtListener coverage skews federal; state-court and 1980s-90s-era filings naming the hull could exist outside indexed scope - zero hits is a verified search result, not an exhaustive negative. Does not establish or defeat any claim of exposure or legal eligibility.

- An official War Office photograph held by the Imperial War Museum documents this hull in service: 'the Captain of LST 367, a landing craft loaded with tanks, briefs his crew before sailing to Sicily' for the 9-10 July 1943 landings (NavSource caption, IWM photo NA 4252). Two further NavSource-captioned photos show HM LST-367 entering the devastated harbor at Ostend, Belgium, and unloading British-crewed Sherman tanks.
