    Finding type
    historical_record
    Finding
The Kaiser Vancouver build ledger confirms this hull as yard number 156 (Maritime Commission hull 972) with build dates matching DANFS/NavSource. The yard was an emergency yard built with $26mm in USMC funding, expanded from 10 to 12 ways, closed at the end of the war. The ledger's disposition entry reads 'Scrapped 1947', which conflicts with DANFS/NavSource ('sold 5 December 1947 to Bosey, Philippines'; 'fate unknown').

Secondary reference (widely cited, data compiled from USMC records), not a government source; the 'Scrapped 1947' disposition conflicts with DANFS and is carried as an unresolved conflict in gaps, not asserted as fact. URL verified live 2026-10-02.

    Finding type
    asbestos_application
    Finding
This hull was built in 1942 inside the Navy's documented asbestos-use era. Its diesel plant removes the boiler/turbine lagging pathway; the era-standard asbestos applications for a vessel of this type were thermal insulation, machinery and exhaust lagging, gaskets, valve packing, and electrical insulation. No source names this hull for any asbestos material.

    Limitations
Class/design and era inference, not a hull record - no source inspected names LST-452 in connection with any asbestos product. Does not establish that asbestos was or was not installed aboard, nor quantity, nor present-day presence (hull sold out of U.S. hands in 1947).

Unquoted token search LST-452: 118 opinion hits, full result set reviewed - every hit a name collision (state criminal, family, guardianship, tax, attorney-general, and consumer/commercial matters matching the tokens 'LST' and '452'; zero maritime, naval, or asbestos subject matter in case names, courts, or suit natures). Docket search "LST-452": 2 hits, both individual bankruptcies (In re Kuzy, Bankr. W.D. Pa. 18-21728, Ch. 11, terminated 2022; In re Sharma, Bankr. W.D. Pa. 20-22860, Ch. 7, terminated 2022) - name collisions, no maritime or asbestos nexus in the docket metadata.

    Limitations
Negative finding for docketed litigation on CourtListener only; coverage is not exhaustive of all state trial courts, and a 1946-stricken hull sold to Philippine owners in 1947 is an unlikely asbestos-docket defendant. The 118 unquoted hits are token collisions, not vessel references - the exact-phrase search returning zero corroborates that no indexed opinion references 'LST-452' as a phrase.

No qualifying ship-specific asbestos record located: no asbestos survey, abatement contract, hazmat disclosure, or docketed case naming LST-452 was found in the public sources searched (see search_ledger). Open-web hits for this hull and asbestos are law-firm marketing pages only, excluded by source policy.

    Limitations
Absence of a located public record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard - construction-era practice makes era materials plausible. Does not establish that asbestos is or is not present; does not establish or defeat any claim of exposure or legal eligibility. Deck logs and muster rolls (NARA, not digitized) were not examined.
