- Finding
- The official DANFS entry states that LST-612 was laid down on 18 December 1943 at Seneca, Illinois, by Chicago Bridge & Iron Co.; launched 29 April 1944; and commissioned 16 May 1944. It lists service in the Asiatic-Pacific theater, including the Leyte landing (October 1944), Mindoro landing (December 1944), and Okinawa operations (April and June 1945). Afterward it performed occupation duty in the Far East and China service until early May 1946; it was decommissioned 1 June 1946, struck 3 July 1946, and sold to Bosey, Philippines, 5 December 1947. DANFS credits three World War II battle stars.

- Limitations
- The NHHC search result reproduced the entry text, but direct access through the browser tool returned HTTP 502. The entry establishes vessel history only; it does not describe asbestos, material inventories, or individual exposure. No inference about shipboard ACM is made.

[3]National Archives, Special List #44, by Ship Numbers, LST-612 listing. [other_primary]
- Locator

- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- NARA Special List #44, by Ship Number, lists LST-612 logbook coverage from 16 May 1944 through 30 June 1945. This confirms an archival lead to ship-specific Navy logbooks; the logs themselves were not reviewed for asbestos references or exposure events.

- Limitations
- This is a finding aid entry for logbooks, not the contents of the logs. It establishes their listed coverage dates only and says nothing about asbestos or exposure.

[4]NHHC DANFS, LST-612 entry, as returned in the indexed NHHC search result; searched alongside NARA Navy logbook finding aids. [nhhc_danfs]
- Locator
- DANFS entry; NARA Special List #44, PDF p. 49
- Finding type
- asbestos_application
- Finding
- Ship-specific asbestos documentation remains unknown. The official DANFS history found for LST-612 contains no statement identifying asbestos-containing materials or asbestos abatement; the NARA logbook finding aid identifies records but does not report their contents. No ship-specific asbestos source was located in the official-source search conducted for this record.

- Limitations
- Negative finding is limited to the sources and searches listed in this record; it is not evidence that asbestos was absent. DANFS direct fetch returned HTTP 502 and the NARA logbooks were not examined. No class-era or construction-period inference is substituted for direct asbestos documentation.
