- Finding
- NHHC DANFS states that LST-614 was laid down on 28 January 1944 at Seneca, Illinois, by Chicago Bridge & Iron Co.; launched on 6 May 1944; and commissioned on 22 May 1944. It served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater and participated in the Morotai landing (September 1944), Leyte landing (October 1944), Lingayen Gulf landing (January 1945), and Mindanao Island landing (April 1945). After the war it performed occupation duty in the Far East and served in China until mid-January 1946. It was decommissioned on 20 June 1946, struck from the Navy list on 29 October 1946, and sold to Bosey, Philippines, on 13 February 1948. DANFS credits four World War II battle stars.

- Locator
- PDF p. 49, LST-614 row
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- The National Archives ship-number list includes LST-614 deck-log coverage from 22 May 1944 through 30 June 1945. The listed logs are a primary-source lead for daily ship activity during that interval; they were not reviewed for this record.

- Population
- Ship's crew and ship activity recorded in deck logs
- Limitations
- The finding aid establishes listed deck-log coverage only. It does not establish that the logs survive in digitized form, contain asbestos information, or cover the ship after 30 June 1945.

- GAO report product page, Highlights
- Finding type
- asbestos_application
- Finding
- GAO's report page states that it reviewed Navy efforts to protect workers from asbestos exposure at Long Beach and Norfolk Naval Shipyards, including the use of asbestos in Navy ships, removal costs, and disability compensation. It does not identify USS LST-614.

- Study period
- 1979 review; vessel and shipyard periods vary in report
- Population
- Workers at Long Beach and Norfolk Naval Shipyards; named vessels in GAO review
- Limitations
- Context only. The live product page does not document asbestos aboard LST-614, its class, or any particular component on this hull; it cannot support ship-specific exposure or product claims. The linked full-report PDF returned HTTP 403 through the direct fetch and was not relied on for additional detail.

[5]Archived copy of NHHC DANFS, LST-614; negative finding from review of the entry and official-source searches logged below [nhhc_danfs]
- Locator
- See search ledger sl-uss-lst-614-lst614-02 through -05
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos survey, abatement contract, hazmat disclosure, or asbestos product record for LST-614 was located in the NHHC DANFS entry or the official-source searches completed for this record. This is a finding about the reviewed public sources, not proof that no asbestos was aboard.

- Public-source review through 2026-10-02
- Limitations
- A bounded public-source search cannot establish absence of asbestos or of undisclosed records. NARA deck logs are a lead but were not examined; CourtListener work is pending due helper pacing. Asbestos status remains unknown.
