- NHHC DANFS states that LST-706 was laid down on 4 May 1944 at Jeffersonville, Indiana, by Jeffersonville Boat & Machine Co.; launched on 12 June 1944; and commissioned on 8 July 1944. It served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater, including the Leyte landings in November 1944 and Lingayen Gulf landing in January 1945, then performed occupation duty in the Far East and served in China until mid-February 1946. It was decommissioned on 19 June 1946 and struck from the Navy list on 31 July 1946. DANFS credits two World War II battle stars.
