NavSource is a secondary compilation and photo archive; its dates and design information were cross-checked against the Coast Guard historical account where overlapping. It is not a ship-specific asbestos record and does not establish asbestos aboard the hull.

The finding aid establishes the existence of a relevant 1945 muster-roll record path, but the roll pages were not reviewed or counted. It does not verify complement, asbestos, exposure, or material content.

    Finding
GAO HRD-80-2 reports that, according to the Navy, ships contained asbestos in components including clutches and electric cables, and that thermal insulation was the Navy's major shipboard asbestos use; it states that the Navy's policy to eliminate asbestos where suitable alternatives existed was issued in October 1975 after specifications had been revised. LST-791's 1944-46 life predates that policy.

This Navy-wide, post-service program report is context only. It does not identify a product, location, quantity, condition, or exposure event aboard LST-791 and cannot support a hull-specific asbestos finding.

Helper output: DAILY QUOTA EXHAUSTED; server-requested wait 38212 seconds (~10.6 hours); no completed query result
    Finding type
    historical_record
    Finding
No conclusion on qualifying CourtListener litigation can be made. The required authenticated helper was invoked for the exact ship name and then returned the fleet daily-quota stand-down message before any completed result; it requested a wait of about 10.6 hours. Per limiter guidance, no further CourtListener requests were made.

    Finding
No ship-specific asbestos survey, abatement contract, hazmat disclosure, material schedule, or qualifying litigation record was located in the accessible public sources searched. The source set included the Coast Guard historical account and muster-roll finding aid, NavSource, NHHC/DANFS link check, GAO HRD-80-2, NARA catalog search, and CourtListener attempted through the authenticated helper. The DANFS URL linked by NavSource returned HTTP 404; Firecrawl's shared keyless quota was exhausted; NARA's API/search returned its JavaScript application shell to automated fetches; and CourtListener was quota-blocked before a completed query.

    Limitations
Absence of a located public record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard. CourtListener coverage is incomplete, and unreviewed archival records, state-court filings, settlements, and non-digitized Navy records may contain additional material.
