- Finding
- LST-832 was laid down on 25 August 1944 at Ambridge, Pennsylvania, by American Bridge Co.; launched on 11 October 1944; sponsored by Mrs. J. Blessing; commissioned on 4 November 1944 under Lt. W. H. Young, USCGR. In World War II she served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater and participated in the assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto from April through June 1945; she then performed occupation duty in the Far East until mid-December 1945. She was decommissioned on 30 April 1946, struck from the Navy list on 3 July 1946, sold to Alexander Shipyards, Inc., New Orleans, for operation on 12 March 1948, and earned one World War II battle star.

- Limitations
- The archived NHHC/DANFS entry establishes identity, dates, service, and disposition only. It does not describe asbestos, insulation, material composition, individual exposure, or present-day condition. The cited URL is explicitly an archived copy, not a live NHHC page.

[3]Naval History and Heritage Command, United States Pacific Fleet Organization, 1 May 1945 [nhhc_danfs]
- Locator
- LST Group 87, LST Division 174 listing
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- The NHHC fleet-organization document lists LST 832 in LST Group 87, LST Division 174, with Lt. W. H. Young, USCG, as commanding officer. This independently corroborates the DANFS identification of the 1945 commanding officer, while the DANFS entry identifies him as USCGR.

- Population
- Pacific Fleet personnel, May 1945
- Limitations
- This organizational listing confirms assignment and command in a May 1945 snapshot only; it does not document asbestos, ship materials, crew complement, or exposure. The difference between the document's USCG abbreviation and DANFS's USCGR designation is not resolved here.

[4]Bureau of Ships, Ships' Data, U.S. Naval Vessels, 1945, Vol. 2 (landing ships and craft), identified through the Shipscribe source index and the repository's LST-1-class profile [other_primary]
- Locator
- Shipscribe Ships' Data index, 1945 Volume 2; lst-1-class.class.json, LST-542 design-group context
- Finding type
- asbestos_application
- Finding
- LST-832 belongs to the LST-542 design group and was a diesel-powered LST with no boiler or steam plant. Era/design context therefore points away from a steam-boiler lagging pathway and toward possible diesel-engine and exhaust insulation, gaskets and packing, electrical insulation or cable, deck coverings, accommodation insulation, and friction linings. These are class/era applications only and are not documented aboard this hull.

- WWII LST construction and maintenance trades; LST crews
- Limitations
- Class/era context cannot establish that any listed product was installed on LST-832, the quantity or condition of any material, or exposure of any person. The live Shipscribe index is cited; the prior direct PDF path for the 1945 volume was not retrievable in this session. No class-derived statement is treated as a ship-specific asbestos finding.

[5]Research-session negative finding across accessible official/authoritative sources; see search_ledger [other_primary]
- Locator
- Search ledger rows sl-uss-lst-832-lst832-01 through sl-uss-lst-832-lst832-07
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos survey, abatement record, material schedule, hazmat disclosure, or verified litigation record was located during this session. This is an incomplete-search negative finding: CourtListener exact-name and hull-number searches were stopped by the authenticated fleet limiter before results were returned, so litigation cannot be classified as no result.

- Limitations
- The absence of a located record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard LST-832 and does not establish or defeat exposure, causation, or legal eligibility. Firecrawl was unavailable because its MCP keyless quota reported a multi-hour reset; NHHC's live page returned 404 and was covered by an archived capture. CourtListener coverage remains blocked, not negative.
