- The transcribed DANFS entry states that Mahackemo (YTB-223) was laid down 28 December 1943 at Elizabeth City Shipyard in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, launched 15 May 1944, and placed in service 30 October 1944. After service in the Norfolk-Hampton Roads area and temporary duty at Philadelphia, it was placed out of service in the Atlantic Reserve Fleet at Green Cove Springs, Florida, on 16 August 1946. It was ordered to active duty on 21 July 1948; while under tow to Newport, Rhode Island, it sank off Cape Hatteras on 11 September 1948. It was struck from the Naval Register on 21 October 1948.
