    Finding
Mamo was built in January 1931 by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp. in San Francisco; the Navy acquired her from Young Brothers Ltd. of Honolulu and commissioned her there on 9 May 1942. Assigned to the 14th Naval District, she served out of Pearl Harbor through World War II. She was redesignated from YT-325 to YTM-325 on 13 April 1944 and to YTB-325 on 15 May 1944, then returned to her owner on 5 February 1946.

    Limitations
Official NHHC entry supports identity and chronology but does not identify propulsion, crew, asbestos materials, repairs, exposure, or post-return disposition. Its indexed text was available while direct retrieval returned HTTP 404; verify against a restored page or NHHC copy before publication.

    Finding

    Limitations
The list identifies log spans; individual log pages were not reviewed. NARA explains deck logs do not directly document shipboard asbestos. Missing months in this index are not proof that no logs exist. The index retains YT-325 even though NHHC reports later designations.

    Finding
NARA's Navy asbestos research guide identifies RG 19 Bureau of Ships correspondence, ship engineering drawings under hull-number and material-group codes including S39 (insulation and lagging) and S48 (piping), and related specifications as possible research paths. It states deck logs and muster rolls provide no direct evidence of asbestos in ship components.

    Potential 1931-1946 vessel records
    Limitations
Repository guidance only. No Mamo-specific RG 19 file, drawing, specification, or asbestos reference was retrieved; coverage for this commercially built acquired tug is unconfirmed. It cannot establish any material aboard Mamo.

    Finding
No ship-specific asbestos documentation was found in the official NHHC vessel entry, NARA Special List 44, or NARA's general asbestos research guide; none identifies an asbestos-containing product, survey, abatement activity, or exposure aboard Mamo.

    Limitations
This is a limited public-source search result, not proof that asbestos was absent. NHHC's live page returned HTTP 404; the indexed entry was reviewed. NARA log pages and RG 19 holdings were not reviewed. No conclusion about individual exposure or causation follows.
