Smith Shipbuilding Co., Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; launched 5 June 1943; and commissioned 6 October 1943. It states that she performed East Coast and Caribbean convoy-escort patrols from January 1944, proceeded to the Pacific in 1945, then served patrol, rescue, and liaison duties for the Navy Governors of the Marshall and Caroline Islands before returning to San Diego on 26 February 1955. DANFS states she was placed out of commission in reserve in February 1955, struck 1 July 1960, and sold 20 May 1961.

[4]CourtListener authenticated API v4 via cl-auth-search.py, quota response [court_record]
- Locator
- Authenticated helper output, 2026-10-03: DAILY QUOTA EXHAUSTED; server asked to wait 11234 seconds
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- The required authenticated CourtListener API v4 sweep could not be completed. Requests for the exact name 'USS Olney' and hull number 'PC-1172' received a 11,234-second (about 3.1-hour) daily-quota wait. No CourtListener result is classified as qualifying asbestos litigation, other litigation, name collision, or no result.

- Limitations
- This is a search-access record, not a litigation finding. The quota response establishes neither the existence nor absence of litigation, asbestos exposure, product identity, causation, quantity, or legal eligibility.

- Locator
- search_ledger rows sl-uss-olney-pc1172-01 through sl-uss-olney-pc1172-05
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos survey, abatement record, material specification, environmental record, or publicly retrievable litigation result was located in the authoritative sources accessible for this review; see the search ledger and documented access gaps.

- Role
- negative_finding
- Documentation level
- ship_specific
- Accessed

- Limitations
- A lack of located public documentation is not evidence that asbestos was absent and does not establish or defeat exposure, causation, quantity, present condition, or legal eligibility. CourtListener was quota-blocked, so this negative finding expressly excludes a completed litigation sweep.
