Era/design inference: a VC2-S-AP5 Victory-derived hull with a single-screw geared-steam plant (2 superheated header-type boilers, 465 psi / ~750 F) built September-December 1944 at peak U.S. shipbuilding asbestos use. Typical applications for the type: boiler and fireroom insulation; steam-line and turbine lagging; valve and flange gaskets; machinery packing; accommodation/joiner insulation (troop-carrying fit-out); winch and windlass brake linings. The hull's ~2 years commissioned and 29 years in reserve layup shift likely disturbance windows to construction, reserve-fleet maintenance, and the 1975 disposal/scrapping phases.
