Yard presence (Charleston Navy Yard 1944 conversion; Philadelphia reserve/decommissioning) is documented as events; DANFS does not describe materials removed or installed and does not establish asbestos work or exposure. The U-172 figure follows the official DANFS text; one mirror transcription reads 'U-178' (transcription error - not adopted). Wayback capture cited because the live NHHC page is unreachable.

NHHC official infographic 'USS OSMOND INGRAM (DD 255) - Honoring A U.S. Navy Hero' (MC2 Lindsay A. Preston) confirms: Clemson-class destroyer; commissioned 28 June 1919, decommissioned 24 June 1922, recommissioned 22 November 1940, decommissioned 8 January 1946; the class was a series of 156 destroyers modeled on the Wickes class for fuel capacity, the last pre-World War II class of flush-decker destroyers built by the United States; and DD-255 'would be the first U.S. Navy ship named after an enlisted Sailor.'

NARA's asbestos research guide describes the record groups applicable to documenting asbestos aboard a Navy vessel for the 1941-1961 period - RG 19 Bureau of Ships correspondence (filed by hull designation, e.g., DD255, or by class namesake DD186 for the Clemson class), General Information Books, and S39 insulation/lagging and S48 piping drawings - and states that deck logs and muster rolls do not directly show asbestos aboard ships.

    Finding
Filed asbestos complaint naming this hull: in Beaurman-White v. General Electric Company (N.D. Cal. No. 3:08-cv-00230, complaint filed 14 January 2008; defendants General Electric Co. and Electric Boat Corp.), Exhibit A alleges decedent Robert L. White was exposed to asbestos while serving in the U.S. Navy aboard 'USS OSMOND INGRAM (DD-255)' as a Boilermaker, 7/1941-2/23/1942, and states specifically: 'On the USS OSMOND INGRAM, decedent rebricked an entire boiler.' The same exhibit alleges Navy service aboard USS Wyoming (AG-17), USS Donaldson (DE-44, with Puget Sound Naval Shipyard work), USS Haraden (DD-585), Naval Repair Facility San Diego, Mare Island Naval Shipyard overhauls, and later Caterpillar mechanic work 1953-1959. Decedent was diagnosed with asbestosis and asbestos-related pleural disease on or about July 2006 and lung cancer on or about March 2007; he died 5 April 2007. Docket metadata: Diversity-Asbestos Litigation (28:1332; NOS 368 P.I. Asbestos); filed 2008-01-14, terminated 2013-11-22.

Pleading-stage allegation, classified at the least-final litigation stage: the exposure recital is an allegation by plaintiffs, never adjudicated - the case terminated 2013-11-22 with no published opinion located (CourtListener opinion index has zero hits for the ship name). The complaint names the hull explicitly (DD-255); during the alleged window (7/1941-2/1942) the ship was designated AVD-9 on patrol-tender duty San Juan/Panama Canal Zone - same hull. Does not establish causation, product identity, quantity, or remaining material aboard. The complaint PDF is a scan; date range was read by OCR at 400dpi (7/1941-2/23/1942).

Ingram, mother of Osmond Ingram; commissioned at Boston 28 June 1919, Lt. Comdr. M. B. DeMott in command. DANFS specifications: displacement 1,215; length 314'4"; beam 31'8"; draft 9'10"; speed 35 knots; complement 122; armament 4x4", 1x3", 12x21" torpedo tubes.
