- Population
- Ship's company and logkeepers
- Limitations
- The list establishes catalogued deck-log coverage, not the contents of the logs, asbestos presence, exposure, or a complete service/disposal history. It identifies only coverage ending 30 June 1945; it does not establish that no later record exists.

[5]GAO, Navy Efforts To Protect Workers From Asbestos Exposure, HRD-80-2 (Oct. 18, 1979) [gao]
- Locator
- GAO HRD-80-2, report discussion of shipboard asbestos use and substitution of alternative insulation materials
- Finding type
- gov_survey
- Finding
- GAO's Navy-wide asbestos review describes asbestos thermal insulation as the Navy's major shipboard asbestos use, states that all Navy ships contained some asbestos in components including clutches and electric cables, and reports that the Navy did not begin substituting alternative insulation materials until the early 1970s. PC-1245 was constructed in 1943 and served during the documented Navy-wide era.

- 1979 review; context spans PC-1245's 1943 construction era
- Population
- Navy shipyard workers and Navy ships addressed by the 1979 review
- Limitations
- Navy-wide program evidence, not a survey or inventory of PC-1245. It does not establish that any cited material was installed aboard this hull, its quantity or location, any worker exposure, causation, or legal eligibility.

[6]Batch-7741 search ledger (this record): NavSource live PC-1245 page; NARA Special List 44; NHHC Pacific Typhoon October 1945; GAO HRD-80-2; authenticated CourtListener helper [other_primary]
- Locator
- search_ledger rows sl-uss-pc-1245-pc1245-01 through -06
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos survey, abatement record, material inventory, product identification, or qualifying litigation record was located in the completed authoritative-source research. CourtListener cannot be counted as a negative sweep: the authenticated helper returned a 5,835-second shared-rate-limit backoff on the first required base query, and the remaining three base queries were not sent.

- Limitations
- Absence of a located public record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard PC-1245. The incomplete CourtListener sweep is an access gap, not a no-result finding; NARA deck logs after 30 June 1945, postwar disposal records, and War Shipping Administration files remain leads. This result establishes neither exposure nor non-exposure, causation, or legal eligibility.
