- Finding
- The Coast Guard Historian's Office publishes Vice Admiral Thomas R. Sargent III's first-person account of service aboard USS PC-469. Sargent states that its keel was laid 22 October 1941 at George Lawley Shipyard in Neponset, Massachusetts; it was launched 10 June 1942; and he joined it during final fitting-out in May 1942 as executive and engineer officer. He describes two Fairbanks-Morse, ten-cylinder opposed-piston diesel engines, twin screws, 2,280 total shaft horsepower, length 173 ft 8 in, beam 23 ft, full-load displacement 450 tons, and a complement of four officers and 55 enlisted men. He recounts placing the ship in commission after sea trials and its initial movement from New York to Miami, then Key West, Guantanamo Bay, and Trinidad in 1942. The same official page states that the Coast Guard manned and operated PC-469 and that the Coast Guard-manned PC vessels were commissioned in 1942.

- Limitations
- First-person memoir hosted by the official Coast Guard Historian's Office. It supports the stated construction, design, crew, and early-service details; it does not give the exact commissioning date, establish asbestos content, or establish post-1942 events or final disposition. Complement and horsepower differ from some secondary summaries; memoir values are carried with attribution.

[3]National Archives, Special List #44, 'Navy Deck Logs, by Ship Numbers.' [other_primary]

- Printed page 68, PC-469 entry
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- NARA's Special List #44, by Ship Numbers, lists PC-469 with Navy deck-log coverage from 13 July 1942 through 30 June 1945. The start date corroborates the commissioning date reported in the ship's historical listing, but this finding aid does not itself state that PC-469 was commissioned on that date.

- Limitations
- This is a logbook date-range finding aid, not the deck logs themselves. It confirms record coverage, not individual events, service assignments, or asbestos exposure.

- Finding type
- gov_survey
- Finding
- GAO report HRD-80-2 reviewed Navy efforts to protect workers from asbestos exposure at Long Beach and Norfolk Naval Shipyards. The report describes Navy ship asbestos use, removal costs, disability compensation, and the Navy's insulation replacement policy. This is Navy-wide and shipyard-program context for the 1942-era fleet; it does not name PC-469 or identify materials installed aboard it.

- Limitations
- Program-level evidence only. Neither the GAO review nor its scope establishes that asbestos was installed on PC-469, or that any crew member or yard worker had exposure aboard this hull.

[5]CourtListener authenticated search helper, invocation log for exact-name opinion query [other_primary]
- Locator
- Search ledger entries sl-05 through sl-08
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No litigation result has been established. Each of the four distinct required authenticated CourtListener base searches (exact-name opinion and docket; hull-number opinion and docket) was invoked through the helper, but none reached CourtListener because the authenticated helper's fleet-wide pacing limiter returned its stand-down message. The exact-name opinion invocation was accidentally repeated once during recovery. This is a blocked sweep, not a negative search result.

- Limitations
- No CourtListener request was completed; no inference about the presence or absence of litigation is warranted. Do not treat the helper's pacing stand-down as a zero-result response.

[6]Research log for this record; official Coast Guard Historian's Office page, NARA Special List #44, and GAO HRD-80-2 reviewed. Firecrawl search/scrape unavailable due hosted keyless quota exhaustion. [other_primary]
- Locator
- Search ledger entries sl-01 through sl-08
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No qualifying ship-specific asbestos survey, abatement record, or asbestos product record was located in the official sources accessed for this record. Firecrawl could not be used because its hosted MCP returned KEYLESS_QUOTA_EXHAUSTED (8,102 seconds on search attempts; 6,184 seconds on later scrape attempts); this row records only the bounded searches completed and is not proof no such records exist.
