- Limitations
- NavSource is a volunteer secondary compilation, not a primary registry. Its decommissioning date (28 October 1958) postdates the strike date it also prints (25 October 1958) - DANFS dates both events 25 October and is carried; conflict logged in gaps. The 15 February 1956 naming is corroborated across sister PCs named the same day. Contains no asbestos content.

- Finding
- Namesake lineage for this hull: the SD State Historical Society counts three U.S. naval vessels named for Pierre - SS Pierre Victory (VC2-S-AP3), a Victory-type cargo ship christened 6 December 1944 (first); USS PC-1141, 'renamed USS Pierre (PC-1141) in 1956,' a PC-461-class submarine chaser decommissioned October 1958 and transferred to the Indonesian Navy (second); and the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Pierre (LCS-38), whose naming Sen. Mike Rounds announced (third).

- Namesake provenance context only - no asbestos or material content. SDHSF counts the merchant Victory ship in the lineage; a local radio account of LCS-38 calls it 'the second ship to bear the name,' a numbering difference on whether Pierre Victory counts - noted, not material.

- Finding
- The official Navy ship listing places PC-1141 in the wartime construction block 'PC-1141-1147 | 1942-44' - corroborating this hull's WWII commissioning window. The table's PC-461-class characteristics line reads: displacement 284 tons, length 173'8", beam 23', draft 10'10", speed 21 knots, complement 65, diesel engines with 2 screws (2,280 shaft hp).

- Finding
- Indonesian-service continuation for this hull (secondary listing): 'Tjakalang (ex-Pierre, ex-PC1411 [sic])' appears in the Tjakalang-class table of former US 173-ft PC submarine chasers - pennant 807, 'stricken 1981.' Wikipedia's hull infobox concurs: KRI Tjakalang, namesake skipjack tuna, acquired 25 October 1958, stricken 1981, fate unknown. Indonesia acquired about five ex-US PC-461-class boats under the Mutual Defense Assistance Program, forming the Tjakalang class.

[7]Era inference built on: DANFS spec block (PC-461-class steel-hulled submarine chaser, built 1943); NavSource specifications (GM 16-278A diesels, 2 shafts); GAO HRD-80-2 Navy asbestos-use era (see ev-07); HyperWar PC-461 class characteristics [other_primary]

- Finding type
- asbestos_application
- Finding
- A steel-hulled patrol craft built March-December 1943 at a Navy contract yard sits inside the Navy's documented asbestos-use era; era-standard applications aboard a small diesel combatant of this period were thermal insulation, machinery and diesel-exhaust lagging, gaskets, valve packing, and electrical insulation in the confined hull volume. As a diesel-driven vessel she carried no boilers or steam turbines - the boiler/turbine lagging pathway of steam ships does not apply, but WWII-era patrol craft are documented in secondary literature as carrying thermal insulation, floor tiles, and machinery-space materials of the asbestos era.

- Limitations
- Class/era inference only - no hull-specific insulation survey, material list, or work package located for PC-1141. Names era-standard applications, not confirmed installed materials. No quantity. - Locator
- search_ledger rows sl-uss-pierre-pc1141-01 through -11
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No qualifying ship-specific asbestos record located: no asbestos survey, abatement contract, hazmat disclosure, or verified litigation naming USS PC-1141 / USS Pierre was found in the public sources searched. CAVEAT: CourtListener could not be queried this session - the authenticated helper reported the shared daily quota exhausted (server-requested wait ~12,872 s / ~3.6 h, exit 2); logged as blocked in search_ledger, not as a negative result. Secondary web sweeps surfaced no qualifying case; the only 'asbestos aboard' material naming this hull is law-firm marketing content (mesothelioma.net patrol-boats listicle lists 'USS PC-1141' among hulls asserted asbestos-bearing without primary sourcing) - excluded by source policy.

- Limitations
- Absence of a located public record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard - and the litigation repository search is a genuine open gap (quota-blocked, not run). Deck logs, Defoe build/work-package records, MDAP transfer-condition documents, and any Indonesian-service records are undigitized leads. Does not establish or defeat any claim of exposure or legal eligibility.
