The prior DANFS text (preserved verbatim in the Wikipedia/Encyclopedia of Arkansas transcriptions) adds shakedown off Florida, Gulf Coast departure 6 May 1945, Eniwetok/Guam/Manila/Lingayen Gulf calls, and the March 1946 move to Portland for pre-inactivation overhaul - details condensed out of the live 2025 entry.

- DANFS documents service history and design specifications, not materials or asbestos content. Older DANFS-derived secondary sources name Lt. Sheldon Potter III as commissioning CO; the 2025 NHHC entry names Lt. Charles B. Link, Jr. with Potter assuming command 29 April 1945 - conflict carried in gaps. Decommissioning date vs. MSTS in-service date (30 April 1967 command-end vs. July 1967 transfer) unresolved - see gaps. - Finding
- The VA ships list places 'All vessels with the designation LST [Landing Ship, Tank]' in its category I - 'Ships operating primarily or exclusively on Vietnam's inland waterways' (brown-water). ProPublica's transcription of the VA list names this hull explicitly: 'U.S.S. Pulaski County (LST-1088) [Landing Ship, Tank] Ship operated primarily or exclusively on Vietnam's inland waterways.' Corroborates the NavSource photographic record of Mekong/Saigon River operations in 1966-67.

- Limitations
- This is an Agent Orange (herbicide) benefit-eligibility record, NOT an asbestos record - it documents that this hull ran Vietnam's inland waterways; it says nothing about asbestos. VA's entry is designation-level ('all vessels ... LST'); the hull-level naming comes via ProPublica's publication of the VA list. Does not establish individual exposure to any hazard.

- Finding
- Official BuShips design table for this hull's block: 'LST1081-1152 .. 2 G.M. Diesel, 12-567A, 1,700' shp, 328'0"oa x 316'0"wl x 50'0", 2,366 t beaching / 4,080 t trial, 11.6 kn; the steam-conditions columns for LST1-1152 are blank - boilers appear only on the LST1153-55 turbine rows (a different class). The diesel plant rules out the boiler/steam-lagging pathway; plausible era applications concentrate in diesel-engine and exhaust-system insulation, gaskets and packing throughout the engineering spaces, electrical insulation/cable, deck coverings (incl. tank-deck surfaces), accommodation-space insulation, and brake/friction linings on winches and the stern-anchor windlass. GAO HRD-80-2 documents that the Navy did not begin systematic asbestos substitution until the early 1970s - after this hull's commissioned service ended (1967).

- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No qualifying ship-specific record located: no asbestos survey, abatement contract, hazmat disclosure, or docketed case naming LST-1088 / Pulaski County was found in the public sources searched (see search_ledger). CourtListener authenticated queries on the hull designator ('LST-1088') returned ZERO hits on both the opinion and docket/RECAP indexes - a genuine negative finding for hull-number litigation. The ship-name query ('USS Pulaski County' / 'Pulaski County' + LST) remained blocked by the fleet pacing budget - a high-collision term (seven U.S. counties); the open-web litigation sweep found only county-government collisions, no ship cases. The scrapyard sale (DRMS, 1 Jan 1975) predates modern hazmat disclosure practice.

- Limitations
- Absence of a located public record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard - a 1944-45 diesel amphibious hull is era-consistent with ACM use, but the hull no longer exists. Hull-number litigation sweep is a verified negative on both CL indexes; the ship-name sweep is incomplete (blocked, not negative) - reported honestly as an access gap. Does not establish or defeat any claim of exposure or legal eligibility.
