The entry provides no asbestos inventory, insulation specification, propulsion machinery description, out-of-service date, or final disposition. The listed complement is a vessel specification, not a verified count for every service period.

NARA identifies potential hull-level research series: RG 19 ship correspondence, auxiliary vessel General Information Books, ship engineering drawings arranged by hull and material group (including S39 insulation and lagging, S48 piping), and RG 38 auxiliary and yardcraft material inspection reports. These are targeted leads for Satanta's YT/YTB/YTM-270 identifiers.

    Finding
NARA describes asbestos use in U.S. Navy materiel during 1941-1961 as a research topic and advises checking individual ship records before determining whether a particular vessel carried asbestos. This overlaps Satanta's construction and service era but is general Navy context only.

    Limitations
NARA names neither Satanta nor her Hiawatha class here. The era overlap cannot establish that this hull contained asbestos, any specific product, location, quantity, exposure, or causation.
