- Finding
- DANFS identifies PC-1252 as a PC-461-class submarine chaser, laid down at Brown Shipbuilding Co. in Houston on 8 June 1942, launched on 30 September 1942, and commissioned on 27 March 1943. It served on Eastern Sea Frontier escort routes between New York and the Caribbean from May 1943 to March 1944; went to England in March-April 1944; patrolled in the English Channel; covered the Utah Beach assault during Operation Overlord and later patrolled at Omaha Beach, Cherbourg, the Channel Islands, and Le Havre. It returned to the United States in June 1945, underwent overhaul at Miami, then operated from Melville, Rhode Island. It was decommissioned on 28 June 1946, named Tarrytown on 15 February 1956, struck from the Navy list on 1 July 1960, and sold to Venezuela in October 1960. DANFS states Venezuela later discarded the vessel but gives no date or method. The listed complement is 65; one World War II battle star is recorded.

- Limitations
- This is a live transcription of DANFS hosted by NavSource, not the NHHC-hosted page. It documents naval history, not asbestos content, individual exposure, or post-transfer physical disposition details. The source says the vessel was later discarded by Venezuela but does not give a date or method.

[5]Source review for USS Tarrytown (PC-1252), limited to the DANFS transcription and NARA logbook finding aid cited above [other_primary]
- Locator
- DANFS entry (entire service narrative); NARA Special List No. 44, PC-1252 listing
- Finding type
- environmental_record
- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos survey, abatement record, product inventory, or asbestos-related exposure documentation was located in the reviewed DANFS entry or NARA logbook finding aid. Ship-specific asbestos documentation remains unknown.

- Limitations
- A bounded negative finding for the two cited sources only. The logbooks themselves were not examined, and this is not evidence that asbestos was absent from the ship. CourtListener research was stopped at the first throttled request, so no litigation conclusion is drawn.
